OUR PLAN OF SALVATION ignorance of men
Many people try to use ignorance as an excuse especially when it comes to Spiritual things. For the Christian ignorance is not bliss as the world would have us believe. For any of us if we play around too long with purposefully not knowing God's truth it will become sin. Luke 23:34; John 16:2 , 1 Timothy 1:13.
For many people the use of the plea of ignorance has been a defense mechanism for most of their lives. " If I do not know then I can't be held guilty". Ignorance in itself is not a bad thing but like anything else if we try to hide it or cover it with lies we run into some real trouble. We can find some powerful examples of that in Job 13:4. As Christians we should know that we cannot claim ignorance of the future Proverbs 27:1. The kind of ignorance I speak of is not found in having no education but it does have everything to do with pretending either to be someone we are not or in pretending we do not know the truth. That kind of ignorance simply has to do with closing our eyes to God's truth.
I think we all have a built in need to know the truth, and yet many times when we find out what our obligation is in knowing the truth we pretend that we didn't see it or understand it when it has been presented to us. Somewhere on the inside of us we are much brighter than we claim...when we know we are naked; we will instinctively run and hide from God. We know that if we claim that truth we will then be held accountable for knowing the truth.
This thought reminds me of the passage of scripture in Acts 17:23 where Paul encountered those in Athens who tried to be so politically correct as to worship every God they could imagine. They even erected a statue to an unknown God in case they had missed something...Paul told them about the one true and living God; the one which had been unknown to them until that very time. In the church today we tend to try to work around perceived ignorance's from those who claim to not understand God's truth, but the truth from God's message is very simple, and easily understood even by small children. Luke 22:57-60 ; Acts 17:30. The worst kind of ignorance is willful ignorance for it is this kind of ignorance that leads us into sin 1 Corinthians 15:34. We can no longer use ignorance as a defense against the accountability we are all called to have with the good news of Christ Jesus. Our responsibility is to testify and share examples of what it is to allow God the control over our lives instead of fighting to maintain it ourselves the way the world tells us we must. Stick with me this week as we discuss more of the ways we try to make our plan of salvation work instead of listening to God's Plan Of Salvation...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
