WHAT IS OUR REAL GOAL IN WITNESSING?

People remember what they hear the most...that is a fact.  That is why the same message is repeated over and over by companies because when you hear certain words they want you to think about their product.  So often we will remember the commercial but not the company that made the commercial; and that is also true of the ways that we present the Gospel to those around us as well.  If our presentation is a distraction from what the real message is people will remember the presentation, but not the Gospel it was meant to bring.

When I was younger I used to think that we could use the world against itself because of the activities and the misdirection of the world that tore souls away from God.  It makes sense to have activities to draw people like the world does...then once they are there you can feed them Christ.  That is the way we think as men which seems right for a time, but which will lead to our destruction.  I am lead to ask the question of us again...what is our real goal in our witness to Jesus Christ in our life?

1. It has nothing to do with our own work or activities, but rather our reflection of what Christ has done for our lives; and that takes a completely different twist to our responsibilities. "God simple and not church complicated" is a phrase we use a lot at the Gathering Ministries because the true reflection that we make in our witness should be in how Jesus Christ has changed our lives, our attitude, and life styles toward one another and this world.  Very simply we should open others up to being exposed to Christ, and then allow God's Spirit to do His work through us to draw others to want to know more about God based upon what they see in us.

Our duty is not to show others our lives, but to show what our lives are with God in charge of them.  We are to be a clear reflection of what God's love is when we have allowed ourselves to be controlled and changed by His Spirit.  We show that not in the way we treat the world around us , but by the ways we love one another in Christ.  People will see our love for those whom God has given us within the church to love and that example should draw them to the church for a closer look.  When they come close enough we can minister to them as well in God's love; but all of the time it is the Holy Spirit who should draw them and not our efforts.  The real truth is that when God draws someone to sit beside us in a service that may be the time we are called on to love them the most, and to show them the real ministry of the church.  We can show them that they are safe to find God for their lives around us, and they are loved just the way they are.  Let them know that you have been changed by God and that you want to share what He has done for you with them.

Our life and our witness is much different than what we may have been told in the past through laws and traditions of a church...we have the gift of real life, love and peace for all men we just have to share it openly...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
