RECOUNTING ROMANS 12 and beyond

Romans 12:9-21 recounts the kind of love and action that is required from within us in our relationship both with God and with one another.  Interestingly it starts with sincerity and it must have growth as it develops.  We must grow to sincerely hate evil, and we must willingly cling to that which is good.  This word tells us that we must devote ourselves to one another in brotherly love...that is something that we can rarely find today in people except for those who's lives are baring the natural bi-product of a relationship with Christ.  The word tells us that we must always show excitement about our service to God, and that is shown through our affections to others like joy in hope, and patience in the afflictions we suffer, and patience in prayer.  We each one need to share with one another what we know is God's purpose within our own lives so that we might remain as an encouragement to them.

The love that we read about here in Romans 12: leads us to practice hospitality, and blessings to others...that includes those who are persecuting you.  We are to bless and not curse those people...rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn.  This behavior is what starts to transform or (change) your life.  Paul ends this thought with a sentence that I really love " Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good"

Our very existence should be to do God's will.  We see those who worship other God's so controlled by evil that they run to give their lives for something that is absolutely worthless while we have the promise of a living God who is returning for us at any time now for life and all that we could think or imagine...yet we cower away in a corner.  The true authority is that of the living God for He is the rightful owner of all things.  Every breath that we take is through His grace and love toward us.

While we have absolutely no power to do good on our own we can imitate God.  I want for us to begin to dig a little deeper into what that process looks like from this point on.  Who we are in Christ and who we have been meant to become is often as different as day and night.  When we allow God to begin to speak to our hearts those hearts are changed from who we have always been into that which we can only imagine we could be through the grace and richness of God's control and power over our lives.  I love you in Christ  Jesus my dear ones with all of my might, and I pray that you will do the same with one another. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
