MATTHEW 24: A SERIES STUDY from Christ's Spirit

Matthew 24:  For the last year I have been paying very close attention to the events that have been occurring around me.  I guess you could call me in some ways a Watcher which is really no more than someone who is posted on the highest place around the city to watch for the enemies approach.  God has kind of set me aside as a truth teller and a teacher that is tied closely into the teachings of Jesus alone.  I never stray too far away from the direct words of Christ on any subject.  Lately I am seeing a great need to set some things straight concerning all of the prophecies we have been hearing on the end times.

Jesus Himself gave the greatest example of being a watcher when He taught on the mount of Olives. Matthew 24: 4-25  Jesus tells personally what will take place in this world and what we must watch out for.  He tells us that not only are these things supposed to take place, but that they must take place before His return.  In verse 4 Christ explains that there will be many who who come trying to deceive us in the later days, and so He warns us to watch out for that deception.  It is much easier for us to be deceived than we may think when it comes to prophecy.  When ever we look for signs we become very susceptible to being lead off on a wild goose chase  that will end in deception.  The only real way to keep from being deceived is to stick close to the words of Jesus Christ our Lord.  In this study we will find that the words of Jesus are more than enough to lead us through the times that are in effect right now in history.

Many people skim over the words of Jesus...especially those that bring difficulty or pain, but the truth is that God will be using this time frame to find out who is and who is not trustworthy and faithful in their belief of God's word.  We are all aware of the " Wars and rumors of wars"  that are mentioned in verse 6, but also within that verse is another piece of information that is many times skipped over.  Jesus tells us " Do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come".  Within those few words are a great amount of guidance if we are listening.  Many today within America are beginning to panic in various ways because they are seemingly loosing control of their rights.  The truth is that we all may have much of what we have enjoyed as Americans removed before Christ returns.  In just a few words Jesus makes it clear that we will all be put to the test in what we have built our lives on to see what the quality of it is.  We know about the Nation risings against Nation thing...we know about the famine and the earthquakes in various places, but according to Christ these are just the beginnings of the birth pains of what is to come.

There are some who would like to no talk about the needs that we have today to get rid of the separation that has existed between Christians for the simple purpose of denomination. It is clear to me more now than ever before that God is calling us to stand and give an account for our faith in Him.  It is also very clear to me that many of those who have claimed Christ as Lord do not even know Him.  We are told that unless the Spirit of God draws a man he will not know the Kingdom of Heaven...so the question begs to be asked what are we doing to ensure that people can be drawn to God by His Spirit?  I will pick up on verse 9-14 next blog...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
