WHO IS YOUR WORSE ENEMY?
We may think we know who our enemies are in this life, but for the most part the real enemies in our life...those that cause the most damage and are the most dangerous are hidden from our view.
In many cases it is that today which shows up as a conspiracy theory in our life that can be the most real, and the most devastating. In many cases when you get the feeling that something is wrong...you are right! there is something wrong, but it is usually always hidden. We want to think of ourselves as being fair, and the world around us always wants things to be politically correct so that no one gets offended. All that really does for us is to weaken our ability to tell right from wrong...and the enemy of God knows that. We can easily put our trust in the wrong place and in the wrong people when it comes to our spiritual well being, and that is why it is so very important that you rely upon the Spirit of God to guide you as you study or listen to anyone who would teach you.
I have talked to you about recognizing some of those who may not even realize they are deceiving you...in fact they have deceived even themselves by listening to another gospel other than has already been proclaimed to you by Christ Jesus. We can start with the new programs that have been so very successful in the Christian circles over the last 20 years or so. It seems like they come and go like water in this information age, and there is always some new slant they bring to finding God that may seem very good and very right to most men. Each of these will eventually develop to divide loyalties in Christ to various leaders that pop up. They become no more than a brand of Christ that is loyaly followed by men who refuse to look more deeply for themselves in to the word, and then take the time to meditate and pray on it. Am I saying these programs are bad?...no not all of them; but I am saying that each thing that we take in must be compared to the truth of God's word, and not on what seems to be right in the eyes of man.
In today's world there is no shortage of those whom would seek to mislead you or corrupt your view of God's real purpose in your life. When something begins to be centered more around you or your desires than on God's word that is a sign of an enemy attack. Of all of the greatest enemies we have on a spiritual basis it becomes self that is the most dangerous because we are mostly lazy at heart in finding out the truth for ourselves. We don't want to do the leg work to find out the truth because it condemns us to follow and obey the truth.
That is the work of the law in our lives, but it is even more difficult to live by the Spirit of that same law because it leaves us no wiggle room. We can say all we want about the various influences from this world that tend to lead us astray, and yet the biggest problem is us, and in what we allow to take root and grow within us. I am reminded that it is not what goes into us that is the problem, but it is what we allow to come out of us that becomes the problem. If you would but pause for a moment and meditate on what I have just said you may come face to face with your worst enemy...what will you do about it? May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
