HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED HOW LONG IT TAKES?
Being able to learn how to Love is by far the most difficult thing I have ever encountered; and learning to love and perfect love through God's Spirit is harder than any kind of earthly love we may encounter.
It is for that reason that God takes a complete life time to perfect such love within us. Most people go through most of their lives trying to learn how to forgive someone else instead of hold a grudge. We learn hopefully at some point that unless we can forgive we can never really learn love. Patience is a virtue that helps us to to continue to forgive after we have started the journey in learning to love, and if we are honest we all know is that we have a long way to go before we have learned that one little subject that God will ask us face to face when we see Him..."Did you learn how to love?"
I really don't think that God expects us to understand all that it takes to give or receive true Spiritual love in this life...but there are some who will be able to allow God's Spirit to work through them to love in a deeper way than we ever thought possible. When I think about 1 Corinthians 13 and all that it gives us in message about God's love I am struck with the selflessness of the nature of love. It isn't just one attribute, but almost every part of our spirit that makes up the components of true Godly love. It isn't only looking fondly upon another person, but it is showing mercy, forgiveness, long suffering, and almost every other spiritual quality that we can think of. Learning to love as God loves will take a complete transformation of the creature that we are now through the renewing of our mind and heart...perhaps that is why as much as accepting the Lordship of Christ we need that transformation in our lives in order to fit perfectly into the Kingdom of Heaven.
The fact still remains that we will never know complete transformation until we are face to face with the Lord God of all creation, and then we will know as we are known. We start this journey by accepting fully what Jesus has given us through the Father, and then we grow through the help of others around us who have allowed Him to work through them to us. That race that we run is not for first place , but to simply finish the course, and along the way there will be plenty of chances to fine hone the skill of loving. I pray that we begin to take those opportunities seriously. As time continues to roll past us we will find that in many cases the only love we have is that which is giving and received by our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. I will be praying for you over this thought, and I pray that you will speak to God as well for me...may you richly bless God though your life in Him.
