PREPARING TO SERVE
Greetings in Jesus:
There are always things that can be done better in our attempt to serve God because we can never have perfection in this life due to our sinful nature. We must look to the nature of God from within us before we can find a pleasing balance of love and obedience through the Spirit of God. I want to take a moment to reflect upon what that really means for us.
Although our spirit is given over to God by the acceptance of Christ as our Savior there are still many things that do battle against us as we seek to grow. Many of these things we battle with are much stronger than we are and so it becomes impossible for us to fight them off alone. For us to even be able to see the truth from the lies this world tells us we need the help of God's Holy Spirit at work within us. The power of God's Spirit may be small at first within us because of our weak faith in His word to us. It is not our physical nature to follow any guidelines of the Spirit at first, but as we experience God's ability to work within us and to answer prayer we find confidence being built in that relationship where our trust grows and our hearts can accept an outside source leading us. Satan works in us through the greatest advantage because his domain is in the earth. In a way we live very much on the enemies home turf. The enemy has his greatest power and advantage here, and so our personal will becomes useless against such a massive influence of lie and deceit. Our only hope is in the choices we make as to who we will to allow ourselves to follow each day.
Everyday of our lives becomes a new choice to make of who we will both follow and serve, and so that is where becoming a daily living sacrifice to God becomes an important issue. We are not strong enough or perfect enough to serve God, and yet through the power of His Spirit which lives within us we are covered through the blood of Christ. As we continue to give ourselves to God each day we shall find growth both in our ability to trust, and in the strength we feel inside because of His changes being made within us. Even though the changes may be very small they will be changes that last. Our job is to stick with the process of trust and obedience to God's word; even if we cannot understand why at the time. Over time we too will be able to say that we persuaded that God is able to do all that He says He can do in our lives, and it is that experience that God wants for us to share with others. It is not about a bible knowledge beat down, or winning a point of view doctrinally...it is about sharing what God has done for your life . That literally means that you have a personal experience with Christ in order to share it. It is my prayer that what God has said here through me connects to you today...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
