HEAD KNOWLEDGE
I send you greetings in Jesus:
The fact that we may have a head knowledge of something does not mean that we have a working knowledge of it...things tend to be much more simple to figure out when they on paper than when we come up against them in real life.
Many people today are hooked on some form of control in their life because the world has been telling us for the last generation or so that unless we have a white knuckle grip on the control of our lives we will be failures...that is not true. The idea that we have hardly any control over our lives is probably one of the biggest addictions we have. This illusion is just another mirage that we can see just on the horizon like the lake of water that is seen on the desert sands when we are dying of thirst. Perhaps that is one of the reasons the enemy spends so much time trying to convince us that what we really need is to control.
If we only stop to think about this we will find that our real control in life is based upon very little of great importance. We choose things like what we eat and wear; whether or not to stand out in the rain, or how well we balance our checking accounts, but when it comes to the really important things that will change our existence we have really very little control at all....or do we? It may be the types of things we are thinking about, and the kinds of choices we are being lead to make that causes the problem. For the most part we are herded around in life like sheep in society thinking that we are in full control and always #1 when in fact common sense tells us that there can only be one person among us who is in first place. That is why we have grown so adapted to using deceit, and manipulation to gain riches and position over all other men and women. When we begin to compare real truth in the mix{ and by that I mean when we allow God to enter into the mix of comparison} we begin to see the truth about who it is that we really are.
The story quickly changes in dynamics when we include God in the picture because we are no longer able to use deceit or manipulation to gain advantage; instead we are faced with the truth of our control issues, and that is very hard at first. The point here is that we cannot keep a comparison to perfection out of things if we want to have a true perspective of who we are and where we are headed in life. If we choose to compare ourselves with those around us we simply are comparing our faults and weaknesses against other faults and weaknesses. We can always find a way to make ours look somewhat better in our own eyes than the ones of our neighbors; but just like looking at the knowledge we have on paper as compared to real life we will find that there are many things that change that we may never have been aware of before.
A good example of that is life itself, and what are we going to do when it continues on past this life? Are we prepared? We may think that we have done the study on what the bible says, but have we done any practical application work to see what the truth is? God's word tells us to TEST to word so that we may know with out any doubt that it is good and true for our lives. With something as critical and important as eternal life is to your future don't you think you deserve to know without any doubt? May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
