NOT MANY
It appears that not many people will ever understand God well enough to accept Him for who He is. I know that I have personally struggled in my efforts to walk with Him without ever taking the time to really know Him or why He would want to hang around with me over my lifetime.
Since the earliest years of my life I have had a relationship with God...I just have not obeyed Him or trusted in Him or even appreciated Him for who He is. I have not understood God at all. Because of my own self centering's I had the idea that my salvation had to some how deal with my goodness or willingness to fix the problems within me, and while there is a great deal of truth in the need for our own willingness to do that there is no value in any effort we might make to change. Our personal goodness is as filthy rags in comparison to God's worst day of Spiritual perfection.
It is for that reason alone that at some point we must die to ourselves, and no one seems top be able to teach us how to do that. We may look in the mirror and try to change the reflection of what we see there; but it is impossible. All we can hopefully do is disguise what we see in some way, and even though through modern techniques of plastic surgery we can remold features to a degree we cannot change the person that we are in the inside through any physical manipulation. We must become as a plant is and realize that we have different seasons to fulfill in life, and though we may live for a short time in full bloom as the circumstances change around us that life is short lived . If we are to continue to live it must be done through what we produce within us while we must die to self and all that is in us must be buried. I have personally fought hard to understand this process without much success until I realized that my life today is not a product of the goodness of the character of man , but rather the goodness of the character of the God that I serve. The believer can only be as good as the master of his life. What we pattern ourselves after will show up in our everyday worship and service.
That is why I can say with little doubt in my heart that NOT MANY are true followers of Christ because I have not seen that many lives who have allowed God to transform them into new creatures. We will not see that transformation take place as quickly in ourselves as others will see it at work in us, and unless we put ourselves on the line by claiming Christ in our lives to the world around us we may never be tested. If we do dare to give witness to Jesus as our Savior we will be watched and tested by the world, and much much more. Our walk does not really start until our faith in God is blind, and our trust is complete enough to risk that which is the most precious to us. While there may not be many who are willing to actually kill self desire, walk in a blind faith walk with God, and seek to give back to God all that means anything to us in life; there will still be a few who will...are you one of those ? Many you richly bless God through your life in Him.
