THE REMNANT OF THE FIRST CHURCH

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

The behavior of those in the first church toward one another has in truth been a subject rarely discussed in the modern church because of the change in the way we see each other in society today.  Acts 2:42-43 gives us the basic information that caused them to stay close to one another in those days.  We know about the persecution of the time of those who followed Christ, but more over they were focused on following the teachings that Jesus Himself taught us during His time of ministry here.  The Apostles were still with them and great signs and wonders were being done to show them the way.  The Church was designed to love and train us in the ways we should live and serve one another, and yet we have for the most part lost almost all of what God had determined we should do and be for one another.  That is because we turned from those teachings and began to follow men whom we thought were of God, and whose ideas while not being in themselves sinful were leading us astray from the base and point that God wanted us to see in life.

The service to one another has been dropped for the exchange of greeting and handshake on a Sunday morning. There is no contact made during the week or at least very little contact to know or care about someone Else's well being...we have begun to pass by on the other side rather than inconvenience self or to get dirty helping someone.  The thoughts and responsibilities that are layed out for us as the Church in Acts 2: 44-47 and Acts 4:32-36 has all but been  replaced by the doctrines of men who have divided us into denominations which refuse to even fellowship because it is the "US AGAINST THEM" attitude which is now predominate within the churches of today.

We have bottled, boxed and labeled ourselves into almost complete non existence as far as feeling the real power of God within our lives.  Although we know this is true there will be very few of us who will take a stand to change that.  I have come to realize that it will not be very crowded in Heaven even from all of the centuries of people coming and going in this life.  I say that because I don't feel that over the last several centuries there have been that many who were devoted enough to live out that which they had received.  I worry so much for many who claim Christ today, but who are unable to show forth the true fruit of the Holy Spirit in their lives.  There is a real difference in what we see the first church being to those who are in need in this world...and to one another.  It should not be hard for us to see what needs to be done if we really do care...I fear that most of us don't care, and are not really convinced that Jesus is the Lord of our lives.  Where do you stand today?  I pray for you every day my dear friends...it is my hope that we can awaken the remnant  of the BRIDE OF CHRIST before His return...it will be a return of judgment.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
