INTRODUCING A NEW STUDY SERIES FOR 2015

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

As you can see I have changed the look of the blog once again...one look gets so stale and lifeless.  I want to speak to you today about a new series of studies that we will be doing at the Gathering ministries starting January 2015 on the book of Acts.  Really the study is more about the Church that Jesus established for us to be a part of in this life, and it so happens that the book of Acts gives us the best insight on what Jesus meant by the church that we are all a part of.

In this new study we will be looking at various different aspects of the the church.  There may even be quite a few things that you may have missed along the years.  The book of Acts is the only one like it in the New Testament, and so it takes on a completely different approach to study than any other book as well.  At least once a week in this coming year I want to take on some of what we discuss in the study with you too so that we can all keep up on the mind that Christ has given us...tying it all together.

Have you ever really thought about what happened historically or what the meaning of the term Acts really means?  an Act: is a statement or a legal decision that can serve as an example for a later act...it can be redundant or ( more than enough).  Digging into this makes for some difficult studies for group work because there is a tremendous amount of discussion involved.  We are going to looking into Historical details about the church like the reasons certain things were discussed at the time and how they may have implications on our own lives today. We will also look at some of the Apologetic reasons  for what the church did in trying to prove Christ to be the true Son of God.  Luke who wrote the book of Acts became quite a great historian, and we have found the bible has been proven to be right in many of the things this world had lost touch of.  There are also some very Spiritual reasons for this study.  The Gathering has been looking to re-establish the true model for the church that was intended by Christ, but which has been  divided into many different groups of people who now will not even fellowship with one another.

There many reasons for us to study this book, but the greatest one is so we can bring back the same unity within the church that Christ has intended for us to have through the power of His Spirit.  I think that we will find great power in His word as we study together somewhat in this coming year.  We are only now beginning to celebrate the birth of our Lord in this Christmas season, but it is my prayer that in this coming few weeks we will light a fire within our hearts that will burn throughout the year to come, and that we will find a new power within us through Christ together. Pray for me please as we start this new push in the blog series...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
