DOES YOUR PREVIEW SHOW TRUTH?

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

I don't know about you, but for be having some kind of big build up for things in this life always results in disappointments for me.  Perhaps it is because the things people say about things usually overshadows the event itself.  Take the movies that we want to the the most usually have the greatest look to them in the previews of them...and then when you get to the movie many times they have already shown the biggest highlight's in the movie just get you to come and see it.  Many times those are very disappointing, but we get used to it to some degree.

In a huge way we have learned that the church today has also given us great previews of what is to come and yet have delivered very little that we may have expected...and that is also very disappointing to me.  When we are in a movie theater, and have already bought the ticket a disappointing movie is something that we cannot change except for to tell others we see how bad it really is and not to waste their time.  A bad church delivery is somewhat different because we are all involved in creating it; or at least we should be.  The original church that Jesus established was one where everyone was involved each and every day to produce the fruit of God's Spirit in the community around them.  The production jobs for them changed however each time they were faced with something. They tag teamed with one another to provide back up support or knowledge as they spoke with others; perhaps it was encouragement on day, and a different support the next.  They did what ever it took to keep one another productive in Christ...and then when they came together on a Sunday they celebrated what had happened that week.  They may have had great victories that week or they may have suffered embarrassing defeats, but at all times they were together, and at all times they were in Christ.

I have some Mormon kids come by from time to time, and I enjoy that because they remind me of how the first church stuck together and how serious they were about their faith.  It is a part of what someone has gotten right about unity and fellowship in Christ...its just that their message is off.  I do what I can to fellowship with them and straighten that message out, but each time it is done with great love in Christ.  I have found that while the Christian does not have the first idea of what they really believe when someone like that comes to their door...unless they can control the conversation they have no clue as to what they are really saying they believe either.  The good thing about that is that they will go back and study to find the answers, and then come back again.  Today we give previews of what is coming in life every time we run and hide from a question about what we believe, and that preview shows the world apathy and disbelief...not Christ .  I am always thrilled when the preview at least matches the quality of the movie  when I see it.  Don't you think it is time that we started to produce the kind of preview in our lives that will draw people to at least come to check out the content of what we have produced?  God is waiting for some sign that we are true in our commitment to Jesus Christ right now...even as I write this.  I want for you to be ready the next time someone asks " What do you believe?"  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
