PRINCIPALS OF GROWTH Prayer discussion TWO

Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus:

Many people pray, yet very few really understands the purpose our power of prayer as it was given to us by God.  Ever since the beginning of the church a great battle of stratagems  have developed in evil places to wipe out the power of God's people. When they could not be scared off Satan's next effort was to disband them from being together.

The power of God''s Spirit that  dwells  within us has given us individual power to stand even unto death, and when we can come together in one mind and one heart in prayer we can literally shake the buildings that we pray in.  Because of the tremendous persecution from  the Romans; Christians were forced into hiding and even finding other places where they could worship.  While the enemy thought that would be the ultimate victory over the church it was nothing more than a tool used to spread the Gospel to the ends of this earth, which was not Satan's intention.  Something that did start to work however, was the concept of men writing doctrine to deal with various local problems instead of staying with the already voiced foundations that Christ Jesus has given to us.

Prayer could have taken care of that problem as well and yet there were only twelve Apostles, and not all of them traveled like Peter or Paul.  The early church was continuously stamping out fires that men and women had started in an effort to make the Gospel message more personal to themselves.  The concept of real prayer that involved the power of God's Spirit within us  to spend time with God for the purposes of giving us guidance and a spiritual plan of action in the ways He did with Christ began to be lost to us.  In Matthew 26:41  Jesus commanded  the disciples to watch and pray so that they would not fall into temptation.  That then is the first reason we are given this SECOND PRINCIPAL CALLED PRAYER so that we do not fall under the temptation of sin.  When we look at the failure of Peter during the trial and Crucifixion of Jesus we find that his main downfall was that he did not pray as Jesus had taught him to pray.  Had it not been for Jesus's complete connection to the Father by the filling of the Holy Spirit from the beginning He too may have failed as a man, but it was His constant connection to the Father by prayer that became the strength and the food that no one else could understand within Him.

It became the power that was within the connection of prayer that allowed Jesus to have more than faith as a man, but to also have the absolute knowledge of God abiding within Him.  He could face the most difficult of what this life had to throw at Him because of prayer and that solid connection to the power of God within Him at all times.  I believe that is why Jesus has asked us to pray without ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17 because it is the only power that we have that directly connects us to the power that we need to overcome.  The idea of praying without ceasing gives us a continual conversation with God in a very simple and free way throughout the day

We may want to have the power that Peter or that Paul had in their ability to converse with others about the God they served, but we mostly don''t have that kind of power because we are not connected through the Spirit to God in prayer like they were.  As our prayer life become more effective our  relationship with Christ becomes more intimate as well  John 14 13-14.  This we do know that Jesus spent much time in prayer before each thing that He did.  Nothing is left to chance with God; even the miracles that are done all have a purpose, and we are not in control.  Our prayer life is the key today still for our power within the Holy Spirit to reflect the light from God to this world...do not let it even flicker within your life and God will use you in ways that you never thought possible.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
