LISTENING TO TRUTH TELLERS AND MEN SENT BY GOD
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
The final area that Jesus focused on with these synagogue leaders was that of killing the prophets that God had sent to them throughout the many years who tried to tell them the truth. Anything they did not want to hear became heresy and they killed them or treated them as outcasts from the temple.
Today we too in many cases are doing much the same kind of thing by our personal support and intent to listen to those whom we know in our heart are sent to us from God. These voices often point us in a direction that we do not want to go. The prophets that Jesus spoke of here were probably men who were from the early church , but who were persecuted scourged and killed. While these people said that they would not kill any prophets that God would send to them; they were already scheming to kill the Messiah.
While the actual killing of these men and women are not currently a part of our rebellion today Jesus has told us that the day will come when anyone who kills a man of God will consider himself to be doing the world a favor; it will get just that bad. Right now we are killing the truth in many different ways. Although it may not be a physical death it certainly is a spiritual death by rejecting and ignoring this truth each time we hear it. Each time we turn our hearts away from what we know is a word from God to us we grow just a little more hardened toward it. It can easily become a habit to keep things at an arms length until we are far enough away from the truth that we are no longer touched when we hear it spoken. There is no one who is an exception to that rule, and we must be aware that the enemy will take every advantage to bring us away from the light.
Killing off the truth is much like how drinking can kill off brain cells. We may not realize it is happening and yet the more we drink on a regular basis the more we will find ourselves swayed by self absorbed thoughts that lead us away from God. I don't know if you have noticed but there are fewer real truth tellers in this world than ever before. There have been many who have made claims that they have the truth, but they simply are tickling the ears of people who want to still hide within their sin. We have seen many of these people fall in disgrace because of their sin, but there will always be those who claim to have a word from God, but who simply want people to follow them and to collect the money from unwitting people who will not think or pray for themselves. It is my prayer that none of you is ever caught up in such things. It is my intent to speak only the truth from Jesus Christ to you. FATHER: I lift up to you the many people who many stop by to share thoughts with me in this blog. I want to thank you Lord for the many blessings that we have received because of your mercy and love for us, and I pray that your will would be done in our lives this day. I ask forgiveness for the many times when we have sinned against you by not listening to your word given to us in some way every day. I pray Lord that we would open our hearts to the truth and your love by forgiving those who have done harm to us in any way. Please Father help with our needs today, and help us to trust in you even more than we ever have for those things of life that we need. Help us Father to cling to the truth of your Good News from Christ Jesus. Draw us ever closer to you through the blood sacrifice of Christ and help us in our unbelief that still lingers within us as earthly creatures. Increase our faith and love for one another and for you so that we can begin to be as one with you as Jesus is one in you. Help us to seek out the truth and to shun the darkness of this world. Protect us from the evil one that our lives may be able to glorify you...we as this in thy powerful and precious name; the name of Jesus our Lord and Savior AMEN. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
