A QUESTION ABOUT THE PURPOSE OF CHRISTS DEATH?

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

I cannot seem to help myself when ever I attend some of the churches in this community but to find there to be a base difference in thought toward what Christs death was really all about.  It is a question that should have been answered long ago between believers, and yet it still is a dividing point for many of us.

That stark difference is based upon how we look at the basic sin that Jesus died for; which is the original sin committed against God from Adam and Eve.  Without that forgiveness we could never have approached God for forgiveness because it was that original sin that separated us from God.  It was that sin that meant sure death to us because with that sin also stood death   That death was an eternal separation from our  creator because of our sin.  The work that Jesus was sent to do was to break the bondage of that sin and death between us and the Father by giving Himself to be our sacrifice made to God for that sin.  When we hear Christ say "it is finished " we are hearing the finished work is completed to destroy that which has stood between us and God that was created by Adam and Eve.

When we look at this further we can see that even though the gap was cleared by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for that sin there still remained sin within the world.  It is this sin that we deal with on a daily basis, and which will still separate us from God unless we continue to come to Christ for forgiveness.  When we look at scripture we cannot help but see that Jesus did not die for all sin in general.  If He had died for all sin then we would no longer have sin as people of God, and yet we continue to struggle with sin.   What Jesus did is to push a kind of reset button between us and God which allows us to have and to build a relationship with Him based upon the truth of our hearts and love toward God.  God reads the intent of our hearts, and therefore will not take our word when we say we believe!  God's purpose in our life here in the first place is to sort out truth from lie in our self will to love  God in return for the love that He has shown to us; even while we were yet sinners.

There are many within today's  church who would prefer to sit back in their pew and take an easy ride through life by saying that Jesus died for all sins past, present and future, and that the real battle is over.  All that we have to do is to believe!  Logically if we follow scripture Jesus said to most of those whom He dealt with that they didn't have the faith of a grain of Mustard seed.  If we did accept Christ as our true Lord and Savior then we should be living as children of God should be living!  That means we should be producing good spiritual fruit every day, and we should be growing closer to and more in love with the things of God every day!  The question that must be asked of those people is ARE THEY?

There are people who are sitting back while the need for laborers in the field grows greater every day. They are saying Jesus did it all, and my part of it is to simply believe in Him!  It is true that we cannot be plucked out of the hand of Jesus by the enemy of God, and yet the words of Jesus himself is also true that tells us " Not everyone who calls me Lord, Lord will enter into the Kingdom"  Matthew 7:.  If we are a part of God's family in our hearts we will obey His commands not out of a sense of command, but out of a sense of love for God.  Now is not the time to kick back and let God do all of the work for us like we hear some saying.  Yes God has won the battle...but do we even under stand what the victory is about?  The door between us and God has been thrown open so that we have the chance to come to Christ for our forgiveness and life, but we must take that step; take that opportunity given to us to develop a relationship with the Father through Christ.  Anything less than that is a waste both for us and for God, for He will accept nothing less and spiritual perfection within the gates of His Kingdom.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
