Want is our primary task?

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Each one of us have a calling of sorts, and most of us do not take the time to realize what that calling is. Our first duty is to believe in Jesus Christ personally enough to put our lives in his hands. There are so many Christians today that are children of God by name only. That is basically because they have failed to really understand what it is to have faith. A true belief in God is not brought about through a form of head knowledge of Scripture or even setting under the teachings of someone who is righteous and truthful in sharing the word of God.

As much as we may want to we cannot pray or believe in someone else's stead. What we can and should do is show to others the light that God has placed with in the each one of us. We must have a truthful and a first-hand witness of what God has done for our own life. There was once a lighthouse keeper who gained a reputation of being a very kind man. He would give free fuel to ships that miscalculated the amount of fuel needed to reach their destination port. One night during a storm, lightning struck his lighthouse and put out his light. He immediately turned on his generator, but soon ran out of fuel, and he had given his reserves to passing ships. During the dark night, a ship struck the rocks and many lives were lost. At his trial, the judge knew of the lighthouse keepers reputation as a kind man and web as he gave sentence. He queues the lighthouse keeper of neglecting his primary responsibility, all which was to keep shining.

Today's church often gets so caught up in their legitimate's of kindness; which they feel stands in the gap for a sense of righteousness through feeding the hungry, and having a general helps ministry within the community around them. Our primary task is to warn sinners of danger, and then to show them God's light and truth through our example of what it means to allow Christ's spirit to live through us. We are to keep the light of the gospel shining so that sinners can avoid that Jag did the ad rock of wrath from God, and then be able to escape being eternally damned. There is an anonymous writer who gives us a very good glimpse of what I mean when he writes :

"My friend, I stand in judgment now, and feel that you are to blame somehow. On earth I walked with you by day, and never did you show the way. You knew the Savior in truths and glory, but never did you tell the story. My knowledge then was very dim, you could have led to me say to him. Though we lived together, here on earth, you never told me of the second birth. And now I stand before eternal hell, because of the heavens glory you did not tell!"

Our primary task then that we must meet on a daily basis is to make sure that people know who we are in Christ Jesus. If we hide that fact from others it simply means that we are either too afraid of the opinions and the possible scorn of others, or we do not believe enough personally to stand for the promises God has made to us. For any of us if we are sick, or in need of surgery the first step always has to be in cutting us open and taking out the offending problem. It is always a frightening thing to think about, but remember if everybody feels good about his or her sin, why would anyone ever repent? Please realize that anyone breathing needs Jesus. May you richly bless God through your life in him.  Colossians 1:25-29
