The purpose for your life being sifted

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

We look today at a passage of Scripture found in the book of Luke 22:31-32 "and the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you; that he may sift you as wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not; and when you are converted, strengthen your brother." When we use the word sift it is translated from the Greek word "SINIAZO" which means to sift, shake in a sieve, by inward agitation to try one's faith to the verge of overthrow.

We need to realize as Christians but today more so than ever before the enemy of God is working in every way conceivable to disrupt our witness in life for Christ Jesus. I want you to realize that Jesus did not pray that Simon Peter would escape this intense shaking from Satan, but he did pray that Peter would not fail in his faith. God had a completely different purpose for the shaking because he allowed the enemy to shake everything in Simon Peter that needed to be shaken. I want to take the time today to share with you five purposes for shaking and object: 1. To bring it closer to its foundation. In every one of our lives as we build there is also a time of settling that will cause what we build to be somewhat unstable until it settles completely to its foundation. If we build our lives around Christ there is a period of time when our faith is still unsettled to the foundation, and the faith that we are building on. While it may be a small point to most of us, if the enemy sees any gap in the material of our lives he will use that as an opportunity to destabilize our faith. 2. To remove what is dead. As we build our lives in Christ there will always be parts of our old sinful nature that are left, and many times we will need to make adjustments, and sift through the parts of who we are that still need to be sacrificed, and dead to our new nature in Christ. 3. To harvest what is ripe. When we produce spiritual fruit in our lives there is always a process of harvest that is used when God takes that fruit from us to build with. I have always looked upon the fruit of the spirit as a building material for God to use in developing the kingdom of heaven. I believe that God does not waste any materials from the fruit of the spirit, and that as he harvests our spiritual fruit we also are changed and revived. 4. To awaken us. We live in a time right now when the one of the most important things that can happen for us is to be awakened to the truth all around us. This does not only mean politically, but also spiritually as we seek to become a living sacrifices that are HOLY, and acceptable to God. 5. To unify or mix together so that it can no longer be separated. One of the greatest tools that we have in Christ today is our unity with one another.

As a result of this tremendous shaking, all of Simon Peter's self confidence would be gone, and all that would remain was God's true foundation. He would be awakened to his true condition, the dead would be remove in the right fruit would be harvested. Bringing him closer to his true foundation. He would no longer function independently but would be interred dependent upon the Lord. I believe we need to realize today the great importance that God puts on all were being firmly built upon the foundation's of Christ's teachings. God sent us the good news through Jesus to establish a new covenant that would change our relationship with God throughout all eternity. Is this world trying to sift your life today? If it is then perhaps you should take into account the reasons in your own life for God's purpose in you being sifted. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
