The lesson on WORSHIP
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Every so often I need to go back to a disclaimer that I make in some of my writings and lessons, and that is that it is the power of God's Holy Spirit who has sent me here to you so that you might have a fuller understanding of his purpose that is within you as the church. I don't ever want you to think that I come to you to soothe anyone's ego or to agree with a preset or even an unspoken doctrine. I have been sent here to speak the truth to you, at least those of you that would be a part of the bride of Christ.
To start this off we need to realize that God has given us guidelines for everything that we need in the body of Christ that will help us to grow and strengthen, but just like the disciples we do not seem to understand those principles even though they are given in the most simple of ways. Today we have a great many divisions within the bodies of believers who would follow after Christ. These divisions are based upon various ways of worshiping Christ, and the doctrines of what we call worship have become a dividing wall between us in fellowship with one another. The true teachings of the body of Christ, or as we know it to be the bride of Christ in the later days has nothing to do with these doctrinal differences. In fact true worship of Christ should be the catalyst which draws this body of Christ closer together, and literally out from the places and the denominations that they have been encamped in all this time. The one thing that we must realize is that God does not view us in terms of denominations, but in terms of our commitment to the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
These teachings are not new to us and yet they have been largely ignored by most of us because they require a complete commitment to Christ in order to work in our lives. The father is beginning the outpourings of his spirit even now, and the time is now that we begin to understand the truth. As we begin these teachings I want you to have several things in your mind; I want you to know that God wants us to know him as he knows us. He wants us to have a complete relationship with those who are in his family. He also wants to be sure of us, he wants us to be sure of him as well so that prompts a question to all of us...WHAT IS WORSHIP?
I have an idea that most of us have a completely mistaken idea of what God feels that worship is. We may look upon worship as being prayer or a church service which shows reference to God, or we may think of it as a very great love our admiration for God but that's the same kind of thing as someone worshiping an older brother or a father or a mother. We hear different definitions of worship like in England where it becomes a title of respect given to an official. More than just having a definition of what fellowship is we need to understand the characteristics of what fellowship is. In order to find that in Scripture we can turn to 1 John 2:28-3:24 for an answer "and now, little children, abide in him that when he shall appear we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone that does righteousness is born of him. Behold, what manner of love the father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God; and it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he shall appear, we shall be like him for we shall see him as he is. Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law; for sin is the transgression of the law. And you know that he was manifested to take away our sins and in him is no sin. Whosoever abides in him sins has not seen him neither known him. Little children let no man deceive you heat it does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He the commits sin is of the devil, for the devil send from the beginning. For this purpose the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin, for his seed remains in him and he cannot sin, because he is born of God in this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil whosoever does not unrighteousness is not of God neither he that loves not his brother. For this is the message that you heard from the beginning that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one and slew his brother, and wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brothers were righteous. Marvel not, my brother, if the world hate you. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brother. He that loves not his brother abides in death. Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. Hereby perceive we the love of God because he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brother. But whoso has this world's good and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him how to waltz this love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemns us, God is greater in our heart, and knows all things. Beloved if our heart condemn us not then we have confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we received of him, because we kept his commandments and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his son Jesus Christ, and love one another as he gave us commandment. And he that keepers his commandments dwells in him and he in him. And hereby we know that he abides in us, by the spirit which he has given us." It is that basic word that shows us the characteristics of fellowship. The worship that we see today in churches has so little to do with the real power of the Holy Spirit. Were going to deal with some more of the Scripture that speaks on fellowship and worship in the next blog. I pray that you will join me and pray with me that the Holy Spirit will be able to teach all of us about true worship and fellowship. May you ritually bless God through your life in him.
