A higher law
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
In today's society we have a new idea in this country that doing good works is the mainstay of what God wants from our lives. I often hear people say that their loyalties and their priorities are family first God second, and self last. In many cases self and family get interchanged quite often. We tend to wonder why it is that we cannot have the relationship with God that we desire. I remember the words of Mahatma Ghandi from years ago when he was asked about deliverance from sin from the standpoint of Hinduism, he said: "it is a constant torture to me that I am still so far from me him whom I know to be my very life and being. I know it is my own wretched Dennis and wickedness that keeps me from him"
What I have discovered is that all works based religion leads to futility and death. It is only in Jesus Christ the sinners can find forgiveness for their sins and deliverance from death and hell. In the book of Romans 8:4-9 the word tells us"that the righteous of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit. For the that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the spirit mind the things of the spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is in mentee against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if so be that the spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his and if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the spirit is life because of righteousness."
150 years ago it would've been thought insane that a jumbo jet, filled with people, could fly. The law of gravity made it impossible for even a feather to remain in the air. Yet, we know that when a certain object moves in a particular speed, it moves out of the law of gravity into a higher law the law of aerodynamics, even though the law of gravity still remains. The world thinks the Christian is insane to live for Jesus Christ, but we know that even though there is a law of sin and death, we live in a higher law the law of the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ. The time has come for the Christians of this age to realize that it is not by our own goodness, kindness, or works that we become righteous. The only way to achieve righteousness is through forgiveness from God for our sins. Mr. Leonard Ravenhill once wrote "let no man think of fighting Hells legions if he is still fighting and internal warfare. Carnage with sound will sicken him if he has carnality within. It is the man who has surrendered to the Lord who will never surrender to his enemies." The truth is that we can never achieve an eternal life without God. God will never favor us without Jesus Christ. The higher law for us is the law of the good news of Jesus Christ. The fact that Jesus was sent to us to be a living sacrifice for our sins is the only way that through God's eyes we can achieve that final adoption into God's kingdom.
