The many faces of love/unfeeling love
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
We are continuing on with this series of studies about God's love. Psalms 23:6 "surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life". This causes me to ask what kind of love is unfailing love? We know that God's love is a steady love according to Psalms 33:18 and that God desires upon those who fear him and their hole is in his steadfast love. We can see the examples of God's steadfast love in Job 10:12 for he grants his life in steadiness within our souls to endure the things that this world will throw at us. Psalms 90:14 says that God satisfies us with his steadfast love.
King David wrote in Psalms 136:1-26 about God's enduring love but I don't believe that we understand how God loves. He loves completely and he expects complete of in return, and yet we give in return something inferior to his perfection. In Malachi 1:2-9 it reads"I have loved you, says the Lord but you ask, how have you loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? The Lord says yet I have loved Jacob but Esau I have hated and I have turned his mountains into a wasteland and left his inheritance to the desert jackals. Edom may say though we have been crushed we will rebuild the ruins but this is one the Lord Almighty says; they may build, but I will demolish. They will be called the wicked land, a people always under the wrath of the Lord. You will see it with your own eyes and say, egregious a Lord... Even beyond the borders of Israel! A son honors his father, and his servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor to me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me? Since the Lord Almighty. It is you all priests who show contempt for my name. But you ask how have we shown contempt for your name? You place defiled food on my altar but you ask how have we defiled you? By saying that the Lord's table is contemptible. When you bring blind animals for sacrifice is that not wrong? When you sacrifice crippled or diseased animals is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor would he be pleased with you would he accept you? Says the Lord Almighty. Now implore God to be gracious to us. With such offerings from your hands will he accept you? Since the Lord Almighty." My point in this is simply that God's love never lessons. God's steadfast love will never depart from us even though everything else around us may fail. Isaiah 54:10
God's love is unfailing because his love can never be quenched as it states in the song of Solomon 8:7. We need to be as close to Christ this week could be to our dearest brother. It is the closest kind of physical tie that we can make in this world. We know that God's love is perfect and cannot be taken away from us, but God still wants more from love and from man kind, and that is why God is also create implanted love. In John 17:24-26 Jesus said in a prayer "father, I want those you have given to be with me where I am, and to see my glory glory given because love. Righteous father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you sent me. I have made you known to them and will continue to make you know in order that the love you have for me may be and that I myself may be in them." This was one of the prayers Christ spoke forth to the father concerning his relationship with this in that same love that was planted in Christ was the love that Christ implanted in us and the establishment of the body. I have implanted in the highest degree John 13:1 and this takes place just before Christ establishes the Lord's supper, and the Scripture tells us that Christ has loved us to the end. Love implanted to the degree of putting others above self is found in1 Corinthians 13:1" for if I speak with the tongues of men and angels and have not love I am nothing more than a clinging bell or tinkling simple".
Implanted love is by the pursuit of love 1 Corinthians 14:1 four we are to pursue love earnestly and all spiritual things. Implanted love is covered love like in Ephesians 1:4 we are covered in his love because he chose us to be given the opportunity of adoption from the foundations of this world. We cannot of ourselves know the depths of this kind of love, and so God has given us examples of what this kind of love does in the lives of men and women. God has called us to become imitators of him as he has expressed love to us. Ephesians 5:1-2 "be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." This imitation of God causes increasing love in our lives 1 Thessalonians 3:12 and 4:9-10 gives us a fact that that theme becomes the complete mark of the Christian life. In 1 John 3:11-14 it becomes this very concept that brings us full circle back to the state of eternal life that God had intended for us. I did not have the time or the room to write out all of the Scriptures here, but I pray that you will take the time to look these up for yourselves. All that we have done here simply scratches the surface of the perfect love and will of God for our lives. We will continue on with some mini different faces of God's love for us as we continue to look more deeply into the church. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
