Continued: what can you tell me about God?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
In the last blog we started a discussion about what we might know about God, and we went over some of the things that we might need to know briefly in giving witness to someone who might ask us to tell them what we know..
God would not have gone to the links he did to prepare a way for us to be with him if he didn't love us first, and that is the real point. God is perfection and the only way that he could forgive sin against him was through a perfect sacrifice. Satan knew this, and judging things through his wisdom he could not see God ever giving a part of himself for the sacrifice of sin thus reclaiming man. We could not provide that sacrifices men because of sin in our nature, but gone found a way to give himself for us through the birth and the perfect life and death of Christ. His only purpose in coming to this world was to provide that sacrifice for us. Jesus the Christ also did something else for us that we just as easily overlook as well and that is the establishment of the church. As a family of God here we have some responsibilities as well. Some of them we do very well, and then there are others that we fail miserably at. We have our own purpose in God. We've been charged with sharing the gospel of Christ with the world around us, and yet it means much more than just saying nice things about God, it means living them out in our life as well. Part of our job is to preach to people. But the most important part of our job is to show others how to live out the gospel of Christ by the ways we treat others. We show that through our daily living out the gospel of Christ and actually preferring one another over this world.
The world around us watches closely as we seek after God for our own lives. There isn't a lot of need for telling people what you believe when you can show forth what you really believe in your daily practices. It becomes a matter of showing others what it is like to allow God to have the control over a life rather than for us to fight off this world by ourselves. Instead of showing forth a list of things that we must give up others need to see the freedoms that living in Christ gives us when we are no longer tied to the constraints of this world. That is shown in our real love and service to others of our own free will. That becomes the truth of the good news to men. We can't help but grow in Christ when we begin to live in this way, and God's Holy Spirit takes that effort on our part to seek after God and uses it to show others order real relationship is. It is living out the concept of "if you love me you will". What I mean by that phrase is if you love me guidances you will study his word not out of duty, but because you want to know God more because of love for him. If you love God you will give control to the will of God out of love instead of constantly fighting against him through your nature of sin. Finally is the reestablishment of the kind of relationship that Adam and Eve had before the original sin came so that we can all share in the adoption process that God offers to us.
Everything that I have said to you can be found in the word of God, but some of you may not have access to the word of God in front of you so I want to take the time to give you some Scripture that you can find and discuss with others in Christ concerning our conduct as Christians.2 Corinthians 6: 11-13 speaks of simply being truthful with God or straight with him about how we feel and what our situation is through our eyes. 2 Corinthians 6: 14- 7: 1 speaks to our separation from evil as well if we continue to read. It is God's natural way of setting us aside from this world for the purpose of changing us into new creatures that will fit into his kingdom. We even have principles and are giving which is way more than just our money or our riches. The more we are pressed by this world, and the more positions are taken away from us in the future I think this principle will be understood. 2 Corinthians 8: 7-15 speaks to the real purpose of our giving and all things not just money but of ourselves and of the abilities that we have to do things for others. 2 Corinthians 8:16-9:5 talks about the policies that God wants from us in giving. 2 Corinthians 9: 6-15 finally deals with the promises that God has made to us if we give in that we will be cared for by him. These are only a few of the things that is covered through God speaking directly to us in his word. I pray that you will consider these as we continue these discussions together. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
