Continued thought: picking up the pieces of Christ
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
In the last blog I was talking about the growth of our spiritual lives being a process which is the same for both individuals as well as churches. And we said it is done by allowing ourselves to die to this world's hold and influence on us until there is nothing left of us for this world to hold onto or to tempt us with. No we don't miss the truth in this because we are preaching the wrong way, or because we are not trying to do the right things, but because we are desperately trying to control what God is doing with us. Simply put we are still trying to be the church that Christ established as spiritual by running with the carnal mind.
The natural man(or carnal nature of man) does not understand the process of dying to this world. The natural man does not comprehend what it means to give pieces of ourselves away to God by giving away who we are out of love the desires that we have for control, and the possession of things that are so greatly a part of our physical world. The natural man cannot understand what it is to experience the work of God within us that changes us from the inside out so that all we want is Christ and to receive the promise of the father. If it is the natural man who is in control of our growth in Christ and who is governing when and how we give ourselves to God we will surely be lost in the process of becoming his body and his bride.
It isn't until we make personal sacrifice to find Christ that we will find answers to our statement of desire to grow in Christ. That comes from transformation of our mind and heart and spirit from within us by a piece by piece effort to change. We as God's children have a duty to break down those barriers that keep us from understanding what it really is that separates us from one another. The body of Christ will be reassembled by the parts of the body who realize that Christ must be the head. As individuals we miss the point when we try to take control from Christ in our lives and it is true as well with our churches. We were not created in Christ to be separate bodies, but instead one body made up of many parts, but working in unity together.
Christ is our head, and when we try to become our own body we show nothing more than shame for Christ as our head. Jesus said: in Mark 8:38 "whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of them also shall the son of man be ashamed, when he cometh into the glory of his father with the holy angels". My friends these are the last days before Christ returns to set right the things of this place. He is going to be looking for his bride in that day. Will you be a part of the bride of Christ when he comes in glory? God is awakening his people from all over this globe to a new understanding of what it means to be called a child of God. The power of the Holy Spirit is drawing out those from among all of the various groups of people who really want a closer relationship with God.
In Deuteronomy 4:9 God's word tells us "only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, Les Bell forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from diehards all the days of thy life; but teach them thy sons, and thy sons sons." Can we begin to face the truth about what God really wants from us as his people? God is looking for truth from us about our relationship with him. If that relationship is less than it should be we can do something about it, but it takes being truthful about giving away ourselves to God piece by piece. I want for you to consider these thoughts prayerfully in your lives, and to realize that they come directly from the Holy Spirit, and not from me. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
