A foundation/training our minds

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

It's always a little confusing for us when it comes to how to train ourselves in Christ. The idea isn't like any other kind of training we have really had in this world. The world trains us by giving information about what to do to find outside solutions for things that happen around us, but training our minds in Christ is different than just learning facts because it deals with the very core person that we are right now being changed into someone else.

It isn't that we don't like who we are now, but that we love God so much that we want to do what it takes to be able to live with him. Do we want to be adopted by God and share in all that he has promised to his children? If we do then we will have to understand why God needs us to change on the inside before we can be his children. That means that we have to train our minds to think in godly terms and not in earthly terms. In the process we become changed as people as well. Along the way there are many things that we may debate about, but there are a few things that Christ has established that simply cannot be changed. It is because of these things that Christ has established that we need to keep focused on Jesus and him alone in our lives.

One of the greatest things that Christ wanted from his church was to establish a family of God on this earth. It was to be a place where we could learn about God and our father and hope one another to be drawn closer to one another. The idea of unity was so important to Christ that he spent a great deal of time teaching and preaching about it before he established his church. The basic principle of what Christ did for us in his self sacrifice was because of love and unity and God's spirit. God wants us all to be so close as to love one another in the same way that he has loved us. That is also the real Mark of family. In fact we should depend on one another before we depend on anyone else in this world. It is when we don't live that way that we get separated and off-balance. God's word speaks of that in Hebrews 12. In fact the book of Hebrews has many good teachings on our growth, like in Hebrews 6: 1- 20 where the Scripture speaks about being careful to not try to teach anything else other than that which is already been taught by Christ. Jesus used the idea of building a house and putting down the foundation first then building on it with different materials. The idea of being a family and living in unity here in this world is among the most simple and straightforward teachings of the foundations of Christ's words to us. By the look of it there are a lot of cases were we wouldn't want to spend eternity with the guy or the gal next to us in church so what does that say? It's either the other guy or its us, or maybe it's what we are concentrating on? I guess the question should be what materials are we using to build on this foundation that Christ is laid down for us?

What's the difference in the materials we use to build with? Will some of it is living material and some of it is dead material. The living material will be material from a living heart which brings forth the moral life and changes and continues to grow after it is put in place, and the dead material will do nothing but lay there and become stagnant and continue to be lifeless. That is the material that never brings life or the changes in any way. It is the same difference we see in a dead pool of water which has no movement and become stagnant, and a pool of water that has movement and produces life. Our minds cannot be trained in spiritual things by using physical things as tools to train with. Spiritual things need spiritual materials to build and physical things need physical materials to build with. That does not mean that one is bad and the other is good always, they are just different and cannot be combined to use to build on the foundations of our life in Christ with. That is why Jesus laid down the foundations of our faith so we would know what materials to use in building up our faith, and in working out our salvation. God has opened the door for us through Jesus when he gave himself for our sins, but now comes are part, which is the adoption process. What materials are you using to build with today? Then this why God has given each of us each other to study with and to reason with in his word. The purpose of the church was to develop his family here through the process of mentoring one another. We help one another through the care and the development of love and unity between us. We grow by continuing to give ourselves a way to God so that he can change us. We encourage one another through love and unity in support of one another as we journey through the same experience together as family. Have you petted your dog today? Have you kissed your wife and kids? Have you helped a brother or sister in Christ today?

No matter what we say there is one certain lesson to learn. That lesson is that God only has one family. Who is it? Those who have given Christ that which he has asked for that; because more than at any other time in the history of mankind we are given the tools to understand God's word to us. We are given access to the word as individuals, and we have greater communication between people now than at any time in history. We have no excuse in not understanding what it is to be family or to be united in Christ. Christ will return to claim his bride in that our, and when he does where will you be in the family tree? If you would like to know more about what we have been saying please write to me, and we can speak further about this. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
