What do we want to do?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
When I asked that question is asked as someone who is a part of the Gathering Ministries who realizes that there is so much more that we can be in this community than what we are. I believe it is a matter of our focus on what is important. I believe the gathering ministries is just that a gathering of various ministries which has been dedicated to the control and the ownership of Jesus Christ our Lord. While like all other church ministries in a way, we seek to preach the gospel, but unlike the normal church setting we are not called to be just another name the many choices to pick and choose from. Our goal is to awaken and to unite the various bodies of believers in some form of fellowship in Christ that gives the whole community of Christ a greater strength thus giving God more power to work as a church body should.
First I look on us as a training center, in part because I'm a teacher, but instead of centering on doctrinal differences we seek to train Christians to grow the basics of Christ through being a kind of source to help small groups and churches find the same training that Jesus provided the 12 men that he trained for their work in ministry. While we always accept the gifts of the Holy Spirit at work within the church we will be careful with your application by studying all the aspects of how they are used by Jesus Christ. I also believe that we are a fellowship Center. One of the most frustrating problems for the serious Christian is waiting past the doctrinal differences in fellowship with one another. We strive to provide a nondenominational, non-churchy atmosphere they can be used every day of the week in different capacities. We talked originally about setting up some kind of coffee shop teeth including a small library for steadier counseling mentoring or just hanging out in a God simple not church complicated sort of way. This would be a great place to hold community events like the heart of Lake shore prayer meetings and still allow it to be hosted by various churches.
All of this falls into place around a serious desire to build ever larger ever stronger in number, in faith, engine spiritual power. It does mean however that we have to step out of the boat and walk on the water with Jesus. I cannot decide yet if we as an organization have the will and the faith needed to take that step. In fact I'm beginning to wonder if the world isn't closing down that window of opportunity in Christ to be able to minister publicly in the way we need to in order to openly show our strength and our resolve to do this. Only a short year or so ago I could see us as a ministry doing many things publicly like seminars and special programs through this kind format among the many things we could offer to the Christian community is resource for smaller program and entertainment the church wants to offer a class over several weeks that format would've allowed us to schedule their meeting place in times and help advertise their events we also have many talented Christian groups that are looking for opportunities to share the word of God through their music. Special event open microphone nights for Christian karaoke, and let's not forget about the great opportunities for dramas and plays in a small venue setting. Each year there are many opportunities to present special seasonal programming that all the churches can attend including regular service events not necessarily on a Sunday morning which may well attract Christians that would like to get involved without leaving their own church. Our ministry in my mind needs to include services like food drives or clothing drive efforts. Until now there is been no real source for small churches to have a way to come together and minister to their community in a way that Christ had intended us to. We have a chance to organize helps programs were Christian people can find good resources and people who are talented in certain areas. With many people getting older and the baby boom era the need for reliable help will only grow. It can be another area where churches can combine talents and efforts to serve the community.
Church is and has always been much more than just services on a Sunday morning. Bible studies, book clubs, cooking classes, and general mentoring concepts are needed in fact the need is so great to find outlets for Christian people that can change their lives by having a place they can come and not be lonely, a place to actually serve and be served. The church should have weekly schedules that can be posted that allows people again at their convenience to a different study or topic of interest to them. The good thing is that the study will be centered in Christ, not doctrines. These are only concepts of things that are in my mind that the church should be today. We are stronger if we are together in our approach to training and presenting Jesus teachings to this area. Let's awaken the bride of Christ together. Let's step out of the boat and walk on the water, may you richly bless God through your life in him.
