RETHINKING: For God so loved
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
For us to understand the idea of being born again we have to see our need to repent. God wants us to fit into the kingdom of heaven, and we cannot fit in less we are changed into a spiritual child God. Repentance is not merely saying we are sorry for what we have done. It is a desire to change our lives to fit into God's kingdom out of our love for God. Everything we do in life has its consequences from the things that we say, the things that we do, and our attitude about life. Among the biggest things in our life our relationships with others, and God created us to be his family.
John 3:16 tells us" For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son"and so among the first things we have to understand is why does God the love us so much? Among the first things we need to ask ourselves is what was Christ sent for? The answer to that is simply that God loved us so much that he sent a part of himself to be sacrificed to pay a price for one we had done. God wanted family around him so much that he figured out a way to give us a chance for a relationship with him. Jesus came to beat this sacrifice that would take away the power of sin over our lives. Jesus died so that sin would no longer have the power of death over us. He died for sins, past, present, and future so that sin can no longer send us to hell. Only our rejection of Jesus Christ can send us to hell. Jesus died so that you can have a relationship with God the father again and he came to show you how.
Let's look at a picture of what Christ death on the cross did. If we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior there is no sin that has power over us. Upon his death a huge door was swung open between us and God that had been shot because of sin. We now have the chance to seek after a relationship with God just like Adam and Eve did before sin. The plan of salvation is a plan that God has made for your salvation, but we have to accept that plan. We are the ones that have to do the seeking. We have to seek the relationship with God. God has already done all the work to prepare to accept us into his family but we have to be prepared to fit into his kingdom. We have to allow God to transform us through the renewing of our minds and hearts.
What does a relationship look like with God? We look at God's creation of mankind, and we can see from the very beginning God's loving hand at work in our creation. We are made in his image so our relationship with him is like our relationship with anyone else. God has all of the same emotions that we have only his are perfect. Just as in any relationship communication is the most important. Communication with God means talking with him, thinking about him, reading his mail, and listening to what he has to say to us. In the book of Hebrews 11:6 it speaks of praying with faith. One of the big factors in our relationship with God is our belief that he is who he says he is. If we believe that God is who he says he is then our prayer to him is valid. In Psalms 24:3-4 the word speaks of praying with clean hands and a pure heart. That deals really was two things; cleaning up our act, and having our hearts intent focused on Christ Matthew 6:7 tells us to pray with a genuine heartfelt prayer rather than vein repetition.
Why would God say anything about reciting a prayer or memorizing and repeating a prayer? God wants you to talk to him and not at him. Doing something out of habit or duty is not building a healthy relationship we can find that is true between husbands and wives. Knowing the words but never caring about their meaning for your life is like being alive on the vine as a branch and yet not getting any nutrition, eventually you will die. We also have to listen to what God has to say. How can we hear him? For those who are in Christ and he is in the him God will speak to your heart. God speaks to us through his creation, and by showing us signs and wonders all during our day. Have you ever been shown God's creation and wonder over its beauty during a day Sina sunrise, or a sunset, and get that feeling that God was right there with you? God also speaks to us through his Word which is a living word when we read with an open heart. There is quite a story behind the God's love for us that is not told in many of the churches today because it steps on too many toes but we are going to continue to look into this idea of"for God so loved"as we continue to study about God's love for us. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
