FIGURATIVELY AND LITERALLY
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
John 16:16-33 finds Jesus speaking to His disciples about the two ways He had been dealing with the truth from the Father. On one hand He spoke in parables to the people, but on the other hand there were times when He would get dead serious about the things that were to come.
While Jesus was very direct about what He said to us (no matter if it was in a parable or a figure of speech the real truth teller was to come to us in the form of the Holy Spirit who would literally dig within each one of us for the only truth that mattered. That was to be the truth that was to be found within each one of us about our relationship with God.
It is this kind of thing that we so often miss when it comes to understanding how to build up security within the body of Christ. More often than not we overlook the real teachings of the Holy Spirit trusting others...and in particular who we can trust. With the Holy Spirit trust is earned, In other words those who did not demonstrate the fruit of God's Spirit in their lives were not trusted members of the body of Christ. We have a tendency to want to show our good faith in Christ by the acceptance of all people who come claiming faith in Jesus, but in the first church that was not the case. Back then lip service was just that...a form of praise, but not necessarily a form of worship. The truth has always been found within the Holy Spirit who dwells within each one of us, Just as Jesus has said " truth knows truth just Spirit knows Spirit" God cannot be fooled by an imposture the ways we so often can. I think it might be time to think again about some of those whom we have allowed into our inner circles based completely on the fruit of the Spirit we have seen in their lives.
In the early church it was necessary to watch those things closely because of traitors to the faith...I fear the closer we get in the persecution of Christians the more traitors to the faith there are going to be. People who are still tied to this world will certainly be subject to accepting the mark of the beast in the end. It is time to be more careful...more loving, and more able to share God's word with those who may need encouragement...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
