WHEN EVER WE LAY OUR LIFE DOWN

Greetings in the name of Jesus our Lord:

I don't know how many of you have ever really had to go through the process of laying down your life...through the circumstance of surgery, or the circumstance of war, or protection of those things that you have valued the most in life.  I think that there are many of us in this country who have at some time had to lay down the control over and the outcome of a life changing event.  I wonder if we have ever really thought about what that takes out of to do that?

I have had many such surgeries, and situations that I can recall now over my life, and most of these times have changed me in some way no matter if the situation turned out good or bad I found that some how on the inside of me I was changed a little.  Each time I changed I also had a chance to get closer to God.  For a long time I have studied the process of transformation, or" the changing of the old man we are into a new man in Christ".  What I am just starting to see is that in each case in order for us to really change we have to go through laying our life down.  I guess what triggered this thought was what our church did in it's Good Friday service of taking all of the burdens in our heart...wrapping them up within a stone and dropping them into a pale of water at the foot of the Cross.  Once they were dropped into the water they disappeared from view so we could no longer go back and pick them up...but that is the same thing that happens when we really lay our life down before Christ, and then let go of it .

I really think it is one of the single hardest things to do for anyone, and yet even to begin the process of walking with God we must first lay our lives down for Him as a living sacrifice.  Being a living sacrifice means that we are still alive and we still operate within the guidelines of this world, but every movement and every thing that we say in a day is now operated by the Spirit of God who lives within us.  If we look at the example of life that Christ gave to us we see that very point being made on a daily basis.  Everyday that Jesus rose and prayed He prayed for the strength and the process to be completed within Him to die on the cross of Calvary...everyday He prayed not my will, but thine be done.  I think in the lives of most of us we are still praying for our will to be done each day as we rise, and not for God's will to be exercised through the power of His Spirit dwelling within us.

Today my thoughts are about laying my life down again because I have a surgery today at 12:00 p.m. on my heart.  I am glad that I don't spiritual heart trouble to worry about because I lay my life down today for Jesus.  It is really a good time for you to do the same  by giving your heart to Christ.  If you do this God has made a promise to make your life better rather than more difficult.  He will not only lead you in life, but He will protect you from those things that you fear the most.  The statement " for me to live is Christ , for me to die is gain" means so much more to me when I know He is in control.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.

THE UNWORTHY SERVANT
