CONTINUED THOUGHTS ON HEALING

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Healing of any kind is important to anyone who has physical problems, in fact, the idea of being without pain or discomfort is probably on most peoples minds when it comes to the subject of healing.  I believe that same thought pattern is used by those who think of God's healings, but according to what God has told us the idea of physical healing is a very small part of the process of God's healing design.

When we look closely at healing it is most often scripturally related to spiritual healing first. When Jesus healed someone that healing was a complete healing of both the soul and the body because each person became a complete follower of Christ in their heart as well we as in their body.  The relationship of illness has always been related to sin; not the sin that is thought of individually, but the sin that we all are forced to live in within this world.   Jesus shared an instance in
Matthew 9:1-7 where  He forgave sins first and then dealt with the physical condition of a paralyzed man, but even with this healing we see a purpose in the way Jesus healed was to teach those who considered themselves as teachers of the law that He indeed had the power to forgive sin, and therefore could also heal; not by trick, but directly from God's power within Him.

We also find that there is a faith in God that is needed for healing. Mark 6:4-6  finds Jesus describing the lack of faith from those within His hometown to do any kind of miracles or healing because of the lack of faith.  I said this in my last post, but I feel it is important to emphasize; THE HEALING IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE HEALER! Luke 7: 21-23.  I believe that fact is missed in so many ways by our churches and our leadership with the church.

With this thought in mind, there becomes
a purpose for illness at times that is just as important  as healing is, and that is the question of  " What is it that will draw you closer to God?" Acts  14:8-18 shares an account where people missunderstood healing altogether where the people saw the healing as a sign of a man doing an act of God and trying to worship the man instead of seeing the act of healing in its true form. The true purpose of healing is to draw us closer to God, and if that purpose is not achieved there is no real purpose for healing at all.

God does not heal us out of a respect for the man in any way; He heals us out of a love for who we are spiritually, and for His desire that we would spiritually be saved.  If we for any reason still do not understand that then we are missing the whole point of the Good  News that Jesus brought to us.  This along with several other areas of today's church need to be reconsidered as we continue to look at these things that don't have anything to do with our salvation, and yet we allow to separate us from one another in Christ.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
