WHAT CAUSES SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS ?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Blindness can be cured, not by an operation but by the development of a Spiritual awakening. In the accounts of the very last healing that Jesus did before His crucifixion in Matthew 20:29-34 we find that these two men were alongside the road that Jesus traveled among a crowd of people. When they had heard that Jesus was passing by they shouted at the top of their voice " JESUS SON OF DAVID HAVE MERCY ON US!" Interestingly the crowd around them tried to quiet them from making any kind of scene, but they yelled ever louder for Jesus to have mercy on them. There are a couple of points I want to make here...1. is that they sought out Jesus for His help instead of waiting to see what would happen and potentially losing their opportunity to speak with someone who they knew could help them, and 2. Is that they weren't the ones blind at all, but it was the crowd all around them who were the blind ones.
Isiah 42:16 tells us " If the blind leads the blind they will both fall into the pit" and so it is also true of us when we allow ourselves to listen to others who do not even have a clue where they are or where they may be going in life. When we think about the result of that it really saddens my heart to think that in order for that to happen in our life one party must not be able to see which the other party refuses to see. Jesus asked these two men what they wanted from Him as He sought to find the intent of their heart in front of the crowd of people who had gathered around. You see what He was about to do was as much for those who had been blind among that crowd as it was for those who actually sought their sight. There are many times when God will put us into a position of blindness so that we will be forced to trust Him with everything that we have. He needs to instill within us the ability to trust Him after we have learned to love Him. Job went on such a trip with God, even though he walked with God every day. That was to test and prove his trust in God to the enemy. Paul went through a period of blindness with God to cause him to see the truth about Jesus Christ.
Proverbs 3: 5-6 tells us " Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thy own understanding, In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths". This becomes the cure for our blindness in life. No matter how much we have been taken in by the world around us our will to choose still trumps the blindness that is created by the deceit that lingers all around us at all times. I choose God because of His love and break every boundary that this world can produce to show me it's lies about God and about who I am as a creation. The day will come, my friends, when we will see the truth, but for the vast majority of us, that realization will come too late because of our blindness. I wrote in my yearbook " Friendship, like the light of phosphorus, can be seen most clearly when all around is dark" This can be said in many different ways as you see in this illustration, but what is most important is whether you listen to the crowd around you when they say " Be quiet", to God when He asks "What do you want for me to do?" Dear ones our blindness starts inside of us just like our love, and belief in Christ. It is the evil dog against the good dog; which one survives in you? THE ONE YOU FEED THE MOST! May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
