HOW MUCH DOES A SOUL WEIGH?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
The truth that we are often given by teachers and ministers is not wrong, but it is often incomplete when it comes to leading us to understand the reality of Spiritual truths. In many cases, we don't mean to be incomplete, but we teach what we are taught many times without digging for the truth in scripture for ourselves. Perhaps that is one of the reasons for our lack of fellowship within the churches in this country. The question "HOW MUCH DOES A SOUL WEIGH?" is definitely a trick question that is geared toward those who are constantly trying to figure out the dimensions of Heaven, or the countdown of events that will take place to predict the exact time and place of Judgment Day.
In truth, the only thing that we know for sure is that the things we expect can be compared to the rarest of jewels or the most precious of materials that we can understand. In truth, we can expect things to be even better according to scripture than anything that we can imagine. We tend to limit our ability to understand God by placing these physical limitations on Him in the same manner that we have limitations. When we read those limits into the word of God subconsciously it also limits any real understanding that God is limitless in His power and Majesty. In most cases, our description must be "I don't know, but I think it is like unto "... People tend to not want to appear in front of someone else without an answer, so many times we will speculate or guess while that person may take our answer as an educated truth when all we are doing is trying to look like we know when we don't. Many times to quote a scripture and say " THE BIBLE SAYS" is not the right answer when we need to personally dig much deeper to find out what God meant by what He said.
Teachers will be held accountable for what they teach others, and that is why we must be so careful to get things right. Paul was continuously stamping out fires that were started by those who would interject their thoughts to others as they taught Christ to people. At one point he said "I am determined to know nothing among you except for Jesus Crucified" He said that for the reason that anything else that he would say may be taken as being from God's own lips, and then be made into some doctrine that would lead to wrong teachings. With all of the effort that Paul took to make sure that the truth of what Christ gave us was taught properly we still today have the same problem.
People are still forming doctrine out of scriptures that are not meant to be used as doctrine for worship, but as answers to a problem that came up that was causing people to get away from the simple truth about the message of the Good News that Jesus came to give. We must be very careful what others hear from us about the teachings of Jesus. It has become a kind of normal response to someone these days when asked about something they do not know to fake it and act like they are at least familiar with the subject no matter if they know it or not. It is a kind of self-preservation response to our work environment that makes us seem less vulnerable to the competition, but it is just another way of lying to the world around us because we don't want to be somehow less than someone else. Watch closely what you say to those whom you influence in Christ and make sure it is simple and true. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
