Giving pieces of ourselves to God
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
For no other reason than God's help alone I have to praise his name, and in times of doubt when all I could do was stand God has stood with me and caused me to see the folly of some of my thoughts in my ways. God is not just involved in our lives when we call on his name, but as we grow in his stature and countenance we find his hand is in every part of our lives. When we are in doubt ourselves in Christ all we need to do at that point is to ask him to show us why it is we should follow him? And then God will answer those prayers and he will do so. As Christians we are in a most precarious balance between the struggle of good and evil which is all around us at all times. The choice was we make are sometimes made from the flesh, and sometimes are made from the spirit within us. These choices cannot always be the best ones for us, but the spirit within us knows the truth and the false things of this world and will show us if we will only open up our minds and hearts to him.
I am finally starting to grow in the confidence that is I allow the Holy Spirit to govern my life he will take over my reasoning and he will cause me to think twice about that what I would've just fallen into before I gave my life to him to control. It is just that small difference that can make us become even stronger in Christ because for most of us if we were given the time to evaluate the situation the way we should we would choose Christ over Satan anyway. You see the enemy uses the surprise of the attack on weaker Christians to cause them to fall into his trap's. It's a situation where we must make rapid decisions about questionable things which causes us to make mistakes in judgment and the enemy of God knows that. Just like the con artist, Satan will convince us through hard-sell and pressure techniques that we must make our minds up to do or say a thing quickly before we can really think about it, and then if we allow him to use tricks successfully on this we will always be the loser in the end.
Our heavenly father through the power of his Holy Spirit has given us ways to counter this by the gift of truth through the spirit within us, and if we just left him do his work in us we will find we never again will fall into the trap that the enemy sets for us without having know it's true nature before we do it. For way too long we as Christians of allowed others to think and feel for us to the point that it becomes like a second nature for us to give up our right to make a decision for ourselves. The spirit of God causes us to think more clearly about our intense and our directions with regard to life and the consequences of our decisions with this new gift of knowledge hopefully we will all become better children in God's kingdom.
There are many of us who have been convinced that we do not have the power to give our lives over to God in such a way as to be able to be victors over Satan in this life. I think it's important that each of us know that God has never expected us to begin our lives by giving 100% of who we are to him from the beginning. It is safe to say that many Christians struggle to give even a small percentage of their lives over to God in the beginning, and so when we say "come to God as you are"instead of trying to make yourself better in some way to receive Christ in your life. If each one of us were honest about our relationship with God we would have to realize that this process of coming to Christ and believing in the gospel that he has been sent by the father to give us is a lifetime process. That means that between us and God we have to admit there is a trust issue. Realizing that, God has given us a way to deal with that trust issue by testing his word to for us. God's word is tested by us when we allow him to take control of our lives piece by piece. We can only trust God in the beginning with the small things of our lives. And as we trust God with something, and he proves to us that he is trustworthy to handle that part of our lives then he asks us to trust him with a next step, or a next piece of who we are so that he might transform that piece of who we are into a piece of us fits into the kingdom of heaven. This is going to take a long time for some people because of various trust issues that they have come across in life. This is a never easy for us, just as it is never easy for God ; who wants nothing more than to love us as his children. As God waits patiently for us to trust him enough to test his word in our lives and find he is truthful we are also learning to give bigger pieces of our lives away to him. Eventually all of the small and easy pieces of who we are that we have given to God become transformed, and what is left is the bigger pieces of our lives that we are now confronted with that need to be given to God. It is those pieces of who we are that we have had control of, or that this world (in some cases) has been allowed to have control of which are left. This is when living for Christ becomes harder for us to deal with. This is when we are faced with giving away pieces of who we are that we feel we cannot live without. It is either we do not feel we can live without them because we still feel that God will not return them to us transformed, or we simply do not want to lose control of them. It is this position that many Christians find themselves in today, and it is this place where God finds out what our true intent of heart is to ward loving and trusting him. This leaves us stuck between a hard place and a rock in deciding what our real will is in serving God. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
