Point of light series: being sponges or teachers

Greetings in the name Jesus:

I want to encourage you to take time if your inner discussion group to ask them to discuss these things. Since you have been a Christian how many times have you taken the opportunity to help someone find an answer for their Christian walk? Now as you are thinking about that I want to share some of what I've experienced is I have traveled around this country with the way we both teach and the way that we listen. See if you have ever encountered in the these things.
1. A teacher who teaches from purely factual standpoints, but cannot relate the information to a practical application in life.
2. A class that cannot seem to get past the basic concepts of the milk of the word.
3. A class of history lessons about God's people that does not relate to your walk with Christ in you go to work tomorrow.
4. A church attitude that is all about the doctrines of how they worship but not about how to use of living for Christ.

Now there are thousands of other things that I could've put in there, but you can start to discuss them along the way as they come up. Here's my point, our churches have forgotten the concept upon which the church that Christ established was built. It is simply that we should teach with the idea of developing teachers, and not with the concept of gathering more people in our class to hear what? The original concept of the church in Antioch was together together only to celebrate and praise God for the work that had been done by the church that is the people who were members of the congregation over that week's time. They met, they broke bread perhaps they had a meal, and they worship the father in an orderly manner. They receive those who had been brought to Christ from the labors of those who lived Christ during the week. They exhorted one another, they build one another up in Christ for the express purpose of going back out the next week and doing the same thing all over again. Now how is that different from the church that you have known all of your lives?

Let's look at a few things. What is your life Christ been more like... A sponge or a teacher? We have often said that one of the things it keeps people interested in something is whether it is challenging or whether it is a boring. It depends on the intent of our heart and how that intent is developed very soon after we come to know Christ. There is a price that is paid for the truth of the Christian life. There is a price to be paid for hearing God's will and call to our lives, but most of us have never been taught. We have set ourselves up as children of God without knowing what we are supposed to be doing. Can we become like Jesus? Is that a thing that we should strive for? If we do that what does that mean? Have we ever ask ourselves that question? We cannot be perfect as he was perfectly say, and yet is it possible for us to do the same things that he did to the best of our ability? No. What did he do? He shared with those around them personal experiences with father. He taught those people who were lost in this world away that they could find their way back to God. He went to people that needed him the most and to those who would receive his message the most. He didn't play games, he told it the way it was. He did not live in Eagle. His testimony of life was given to the lost sheep of this world, not to the most powerful and most influential. He knew that God's Spirit needed to test his love over and over along the way. Does that sound anything like the instruction you have been receiving in your church lately?

Am I stepping on any toes yet? I'd like to take some time to think about what the Spirit of God has just given you. I want to begin a discussion with you on some of the ways we have allowed the Holy Spirit to shed his light in our hearts. It's my prayer that you will think about these things that we discuss and do some of your own personal study on the subject matter, and hopefully ask some questions for the blog that we can discuss together. It's time for the bride of Christ to wake up and it's time for us to stand and give an account for our beliefs. May you richly bless God through your life him.
