WHAT ABOUT EASTER?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
We find ourselves in the middle of the Easter Season. For the Christian, it is the season of duty and Tradition on a social level. The world itself expects us to go to church on Easter Sunday. In fact, it brings out almost all of those who claim to know Christ even if they only attend any church once a year for the show.
In fact, we can be pretty hypocritical this time of year. Our society has changed in such a way that we don't really even try to dress to impress those who come and sit around us anymore. We will still however still make those banquet reservations with friends and family; after all, we will spend approximately the same amount of time with them in the meal sitting as we will on Sunday in Church for Easter. It isn't that long to have to endure!
My point is this: Where is our mind and our heart has gone to this time of year? This one week we should be remembering Jesus's Death, Burial, and RESURRECTION! We should be in a grateful prayer of the sacrifice that He has made just for us instead of blindly going through the motions that have been laid out for us by a world that does not care about our faith in or our love for God.
I can't help but go back in my mind to the scripture from Jesus Himself in Matthew 7:21-24 that tells us " Not everyone who calls me Lord, Lord will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he that does the will of my Father which is in Heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me ye that work in iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house upon the rock." We really do need to wake up and listen to what God is telling us in this Season. I really do fear for those people who are convinced they have fooled God by their actions. They are the greatest fools of all for thinking that they can manipulate God in the same ways they do men and women all around them every day. I sometimes wonder how different our world would be if we could read the intent of heart behind peoples smiles and conversation; if we could see one another for the true person we are trying to hide from one another on a daily basis?
It is something worth thinking about this year as we are preparing to worship because I can assure you that God knows exactly what is really in your heart and mind no matter what the words are that comes from your lips or the charm that comes from your personality. For most of us, there is a very tight-lipped barrier between what we say out loud and what we think to our selves that falls squarely into the realm of sin that we need to deal with. For almost every one of us, that sin and hidden part of who we really are is all but denied to exist even to ourselves and yet we know it is there just like God knows it is there. It is that hidden part that we need to square away with God at this time of the year so that we can worship Him with a full heart, and it is that very same hidden part of us that gets in the way of our ability to give away parts of ourselves to God that would allow His Holy Spirit to finish His work in each of us. I don't believe the old lie that is told to us by the enemy of God that tells us because we can't purify our thoughts we can't love God! What I believe is that because we try so desperately to hide those thoughts from others we think that we have to hide them from God too instead of being painfully honest with God and allowing Him to work out our transformation to it's fullest. There are many things that somehow get turned upside down with our relationship with God, and one of those things is that God will send you to hell for sinning, but that isn't true either! God will send you to hell for not having a relationship with Jesus Christ, and it is our relationship with Christ that will keep you from sinning. We are in the middle of the Easter season right now, and we still have the time to fix that relationship and have the most meaningful Easter we have ever experienced.
The next step is ours...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
