A VERY PRESENT HELP
Greetings in Jesus:
I firmly believe in the power of God's ever-present help. I also believe that we have to position ourselves in the center of God's will for our lives in order to catch the blessings that fall upon us when He answers our requests of help in times of need.
I have found that as Christians we tend to go on automatic pilot when it comes to expecting God to run to our aid when we get into trouble, and we wonder why some of our prayers seem to go unanswered at all. I believe the answer is quite easy in most cases; we are not in a position to either understand God's will for our lives or we are in some way in a rebellion of God's will, therefore, are not listening to His voice.
In most cases, we go through much of this life in one of those two states, and it is not until we resolve a relationship with God that must ultimately be obedient to His will that we will begin to see how our Christian experience should operate to our benefit. Like it or not we are a race of very stubborn creatures who are easily turned toward self instead of selflessness. With all of the extreme power of God's Heavenly Angels, they are still completely obedient and compliant to God's will in everything. I believe the reasons we find that the Apostles were so powerful in the Holy Spirit was because they too were obedient; because they had learned to be obedient.
It has taken me most of my life to learn these things personally, but it not because I am so smart or pious, but because of the effort of trial and error on my part to find that place of obedience to God for my life, except that place, and then begin to live in obedience to His will in my life. It is then that I can begin to sense and feel the working of His Spirit in me and find not only am I in a place where I can see and feel His answers but also to understand and know what I should be asking for that will guarantee a positive response from Him when I make a request. We do not realize that God is sending His blessings and answers to our prayers constantly, and for the most part, we ignore them because we either do not understand the answer that He is giving us or we are trying to hold out for what we want rather than to do His will for us.
No matter how we approach this issue the end result will always be the same. Either we find a way to be obedient to His will or miss Heaven altogether. There will be no place for rebellion from God's will in the Kingdom of Heaven. There will be no place for envy or strife among those who should be family members. There will be no arguments about who was right or wrong in their doctrines or creeds because all of that will die with this world. I think it is time that we began to understand that God's will is unity of thought and purpose between those of us who claim Christ as Lord and then proceed to make Him Lord completely by our obedience to His word. If we want to feel the power of God's Spirit in our life then let go of this world and trust Him with your whole heart. That is the starting point. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
THE UNWORTHY SERVANT
