DO NOT GET IN THE WAY OF GOD'S PLAN

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

For the last several Sunday's I have been spending time at home on Sunday Mornings with my wife as we share in messages from good teachers, and have a good time of prayer and meditation on the word that we hear.  For the most part, I personally like the teachings of Charles Stanley, and He brought up a subject that has stuck with my heart to share with you concerning how we too often get in the way of God doing what is needed to be done in someones Else's life because we want naturally to FIX things.

Matthew 16: was used to demonstrate two areas from one life.  It was the revelation to Peter about the true identity of Christ as the Son of God, and then the rebuke that Jesus had to immediately give him when he was told that Jesus was to die on the cross.  Peter heard only that Jesus was to die, and not the full message of his death, burial, and then Resurrection. It is unfortunate that many of us become much like Peter in that we have moments of clarity about who Jesus is, and yet we are still compelled to step into the way of God's Spirit working in someone's life.  Peter rose in the garden to defend Jesus by trying to prevent Him from death on the cross.  We all now know what God's will is with the plan of Salvation, but the disciples missed the concept that Jesus was indeed the Son of God and had power over even death until it actually happened.  Peter found out that self-will to believe was never enough without God's Spiritual help when he found himself denying he even knew Jesus as Christ was led by him on the way to the Crucifixion.

We have such a small ability to effect change in our situation of witness to the world without the power of God's Spirit at work within us.  That being said; those many times when we have attempted to fix the problems of others with our own personal sway in this life usually are wasted in some way for we may have gone without first we allowing God's Spirit to direct us.  We cannot know what pathway God may have chosen for someone to go down, and more we fix ourselves between them and God's will the more friction it will cause for us as well.  I would never have allowed someone else to go down the pathway that I have traveled if I could have prevented it.  I have caused much of my own trouble with God's Spirit being able to use me, and even now I can see the wisdom that Christ has used in limiting me to certain things in this life because of my own faults and weaknesses in character. I have had to learn many things in Christ the hard way because of my stubbornness.

It took many years before I had exhausted my ability to fight against what God wanted me to do, and surrendered to God's ultimate will for me.  My base desire was to do what I wanted to do for my life, but I found out that God's desire for me was a lot different than my plan was for me.  It took me until I was older to understand the reasons for that.  Even though now I can say without any remorse that I am happier than I ever thought I could be with the things that have happened in my life.  I would never have chosen these things, but I have learned from what has happened.  I know now that everything that has transpired in my life has happened for a reason.  I have found as I have studied others lives that God will do what He has to do to correct the character flaws that have held us at an arms distance from Him.  He may take the things away from us that would be used against us, and against our submission to Him.  He may deny us of what we may have wanted so much in life because we are not suited for it.  There are some things that I have learned that I must accept no matter what I want in my heart.  Because of sin in my life, there are some things I can not have  that should have been my own.  Many times because we can understand God's reasoning for things we must simply trust in His wisdom alone to see us through.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
