GETTING TO THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT IS IMPORTANT

I send greetings in the name of Jesus:

It is becoming very important to me to get information out to those who are paying attention about our need to simplify the process of what we do in relating to Jesus as our Savior.  I do not believe the very simple message that Christ has given us with regard to our salvation has changed; but I believe that we have muddied up the water with regard to what Good considers is important.

With this in mind let us revisit what Jesus has shared with us about salvation:  Jesus told us that God has made a new covenant with us that no longer includes our obedience to the  adherence of strict laws and sacrifices that do nothing but role back the sin debt.  Instead God has  made a new covenant with us through what He has called the Spirit of the law which makes impossible for anyone to cheat or get around any of those laws that He has already established.  " If you think it in your heart it is the same as doing it in a physical sense" makes it impossible for anyone to escape the conviction of God's law on the heart of men.  It makes it absolutely necessary for God's help in dealing with that conviction under the law; which is designed to convict everyone of sin.

We have tended to get caught up in an entirely different squabble concerning sin by trying to ignore the sin issue altogether by placing blame on the doctrinal differences between us instead of dealing with the relationship issues we have with this new covenant that has been put into place.  It is that issue that I want us to deal with this week.  I really don't think that it should take a great amount of proof through scripture for us to see the truth behind what I am dealing with spiritually this week because it is a basic truth that we have all been able to grasp since we first came to Christ, and yet it is one which so little time has been spent to make sure that we are implementing in our daily lives that we need to revisit it.  This all comes down to the time and the effort we have put into our own building of a strong relationship between us and Jesus.  For some reason the issue gets blurred between what we should be doing as a child of God to minister too the world around us  and the development of our own personal relationship with the Son of God whom we are told we must posses and develop in order to find salvation..."No one can come to the Father except through Christ".

It is becoming alarmingly more evident each time I look at this subject that we are being led away from our salvation relationship with Christ and are concentrating more than ever on the Good Works issues.  In His sermon on the mount Jesus explained to us that the great majority of people who have thought of themselves as being people of God are actually without the kind of relationship that God has required in Christ; a very personal trust and belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and an obedience to Him as the Lord and Savior that they claim.  It does not mean that this cannot be corrected, or that it isn't easy to correct; but it does mean that this correction needs to be a priority in life.  Understanding this kind of thing is the first step to correcting the situation within our churches today that  causes walls to be built up between us and other Christians.  What does discipleship really mean and how do we get back to it? We will discuss this next time...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
