WHAT PART OF WHO WE ARE DOES GOD WANT TO SAVE?

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

If we are at all seeking a relationship with Jesus Christ through the power of His Spirit which dwells within us; we must first give some thought to what part of us it is that has become so precious to God to save us?

As we begin to look at this from God's viewpoint there is a completely different perspective that quickly comes into focus. The things that God the Father focuses upon are things that we rarely even think of, and that has very little to do with what we think of as being important.  If we go back to the very beginning of things we must look at how we are created. We have first of all been created to be God's children.  Our first and greatest part as a creation is spiritual, but we can barely understand that part of us because it lays subdued in this physical form.  Our lives are centered in a consciousness of this physical world until we allow God's Spirit to wake us up.  At some point in every life there is a time of awakening, and then at least to some degree, we make a few decisions about what we will do about that awakening. Not all of these decisions will bring us closer to God.  Some of these things we decide will cause us more grief than they will be helpful, and so we tend to take a step forward, and then three steps backward many times in life.

One of the big things we need to get straight in our hearts is what part of us God is really interested in saving about us?  God has told us about His desires to save our spirit.  It is the first form of creation that God has made us in, and I believe it is the form that God prefers us to be in.  God can have a complete relationship with us in the form of the spirit, and that is what God is SPIRIT.  We need to realize that God's efforts and His concentration will always be on our spirit as well, and not necessarily a concentration on our physical circumstances.  This does not support all of the rhetoric we hear today on having all that we want in this life; which is a tool used by many in today's spiritual teachings to keep us away from the true message that Christ preached.

There are a few things that are brought to mind in dealing with this difference which need to be mentioned. 1. God is not intending to come back to rescue our physical bodies, but rather to raise us up with Him spiritually in resurrected bodies that are eternal in their nature without sin that separates us from being able to be with Him in the Kingdom of Heaven.  The truth is when God speaks about life, blessings, and mercy to us I believe He is much more concerned about the spiritual qualities we have in life than He is with the physical qualities we have.  God already knows what we need here, and He has promised to supply those needs if we put Him first before all other things in this life.  It is fairly clear to see that God's view of what is important and our view of what is important can easily be the polar opposite because of what we place the most value in.  This is the kind of realization that need to have in our relationship with God.  Also is a difference in the expectations that God has for us, and that we have of God in the GOOD NEWS message..  We will pick up on this with our next blog, but until then may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
