THE BATTLE OF SPIRITUAL WISDOM
I send greetings in the name of Jesus:
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him." It is a difficult thing for us to understand how limited we are, and then how unlimited God is when it comes to his abilities to create through the power of his spirit.
We do not have the same abilities even though we are made in God's image. We have the same emotions, and I am sure when everything is said and done God's spirit deals with just as much emotional upset as we do except for the fact that he has a perfect balance and understanding that we can never have in this life.
1 Corinthians 2: 10-16 tells us that God has revealed himself to those who are open to hearing spiritual wisdom. "But God has revealed it to us by his spirit, the spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: for who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ."
When we talk about the deep things of God we are speaking about things that are of God's nature, and about the deepest parts of his plan for our salvation; and this includes the death burial and resurrection of Jesus, and how it all ties into the promise of salvation that can only be revealed to those people who believe that what God says is true. This knowledge, however, cannot be understood in any way through physical terms. Even the words used when trying to describe God's Spirit become like gibberish to those who live by the rules of this world... They simply do not make any sense. Everything that we say comes directly from the power of God's Spirit within us. Paul was not merely giving his own personal views or his personal impression of what God had said; Paul was speaking through the authoritative source of the Holy Spirit. I am trying in the best way I know how to continue to speak to you in that same spirit which is through the inspiration of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. It is the fact the new one can comprehend God except through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
It is through the Holy Spirit however that we can begin to know God's thoughts as we talk with him and expect his answers to our prayers. We all need a certain amount of time in meditation, prayer and just sitting some before God in order to be taught. We must have an intimate relationship with Christ that can only come from spending time consistently in his presence and in God's word. Just as it says in Philippians 2:5 "your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus". The son of God was humble and willing to give up his rights in order to obey God and to serve people. Just like Christ, we should have a servant's attitude, serving out of a lump for God and for others, not out of guilt or fear. We can choose the attitude that we approach life with by expecting either to be served, or by looking for opportunities to serve others. I believe that the basic nature we need in God's spirit is that of humility because not only are we serving God out of love and obedience, but in that service we are allowing God's Holy Spirit to transform our lives and change us from within. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
