The development of denominations

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

The development of denominations of believers has become the single greatest factor in the division of the church today. Having said that, we need to delve into some of the reasons that we find this to be true. Doctrines and denominations of believers have caused the separation of gifts of the Spirit of God to the point that the church has lost its vision and leadership. We know that the Scripture tells us without a vision my people perish, and today we find so many things that have gotten in the way of God's Spirit being in control and working within individuals; in particular those who are in leadership roles that most churches no longer have a clear-cut direction for their ministry.

Many of us have lost the true reason for us to gather together to worship God apart from singing praises and worship that we have no active participation in the development of the Ministry of believers within our community. It is that active role that we as Christians play in the community of being a true North on the compass of the community around us that gives us social structure. Although we don't like the thought we are given the responsibility to not only witness to others as to what God has done for our lives, but we are also to teach, baptize, and teach others in God's ways. That means that we as Christians must take an active role in mentoring those who are seeking after God in various forms. That is not a role that is played that is often seen as glorious or even as a role of leadership among men, but rather as a most humble role of service. It becomes the same kind of relationship that Jesus showed his disciples in the upper room just before they broke bread for the last time. It is the role of washing one another's feet, becoming servants to one another, and finding ways to die to self and put others needs before our own wants.

The real purpose for our gathering is to bring fruit of the spirit unto the Lord each week to lay at his feet and to be used in building the kingdom of heaven. When God said"do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together"it is a teaching that is directly from the message of God that Jesus was trying to relate to us. Our goal is to grow Christians enter provide a safe place for them to mature and develop. We are to pray for, and build up one another in God's spiritual gifts and fruit of the spirit as he works through us in ministry to one another. All were teaching of the good news of God requires a commitment on our part to mentor others in the daily work of God's Holy Spirit as he works in us. It becomes a 24/7 kind of commitment that can only be given to a few people at a time, the shotgun method does not work in mentoring others. Jesus chose only 12 to concentrate on and to show the true nature of God to. We must openly share what God does in our personal lives. We must build one another up through teaching, preaching, and Scripture lived out in front of one another in every day life. We must teach one another how to pray, and how to seek out God's spirit personally in our moment to moment lives. The development of spiritual fruit in our lives (which is a byproduct of our relationship with Christ) comes from our heart starting to hold the treasures of God's kingdom. Sharing with one another both in victories, and in failures shows others how God works through us to produce these spiritual fruits.

There is a real difference in being competent and in competing with one another. It is important that we work with existing ministries rather than try to create our own ownership of an organization. This world has Christians in the business of duplicating ministries, and competing with one another rather than strengthening existing efforts. Each church body has its own ministry and spiritual purpose in the community. We need to find out what these ministries are that we choose to get behind either financially or physically. Duplication of ministries is a waste of Christian energy, and is like spinning your wheels in a muddy field. There are several areas we must pay close attention to in making decisions the ministry of any church or any ministry in the community. Watch for the determination of those who feel they are being called to serve in this ministry. Look closely at the show of need for that ministry in the community. Make sure there is no duplication of ministry or that the people cannot work with an existing ministry in the community. We must also look for the duplication of ministry within each body of Christ itself to make sure there is no competition. There are many churches today who automatically go into an organizational structure that promotes competition within the body. This usually leads to ministry compartments were Christian leaders are led to feel ownership of a ministry within the church. This kind of thing is often argued among the people and it becomes a main factor of becoming territorial when it comes to ministries being established in the church. It is this kind of thing that is argued among the people of churches and is a main factor in people becoming territorial when it comes to ministries within the church it is through this kind of competition that envy and greed can develop and that the enemy can use in the hearts of men and women who seek after power and control. We would do well to think on these things as we pray and as we develop our relationship with the father. May you richly bless God through your life in him.

YHE UNWORTHY SERVANT
