Comparing our views of worship to God's views worship
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
We have just begun to scratch the surface of what we need to see in the differences between our view of worship and the concept of what God asked Jesus to establish in this world to be the family that could be united by the bond of love through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Even as I say that I also realize that God's enemy will go to any length available to stop us as Christian followers from understanding the true nature and power of what being united in love means to the church of today. When we start to compare the most important things about our worship of God with the most important things God desires from our worship there are several truths that come out.
1. Very quickly we start to find that God wants us to believe that what he tells us through his Word is true. We can never fully understand the truth of God's word for our lives until we are willing to test God's word in our lives. Let me break that down for you for just a moment. In order for us to believe anything that someone tells us it is important that we have a relationship with them that has been tested on truth. I have personally had to stop many times to ask myself if I had ever had an experience where I found that God's word was not right on the point for my life? Every time I have dared to ask that question, and to test the results of what I found I always reached the logical conclusion that God's word has never failed me. It has never been wrong about the intent of my heart when I was willing to be truthful. It has never been wrong in being used as a tool for guidance to help me make my life better, stronger, and more truthful. Most of all God's word has never led me the wrong way in life, and I have always been able to count on that truth never changing. It is because of all of that I can say honestly that I can trust and believe in everything that God tells me.
2. I have also found that God wants us to believe in Jesus Christ as his only begotten son. It seems to me that as much as anything in this life the enemy of God is trying to confuse us through manipulating the messages we receive about who the personalities of God really are. We get messages that range anywhere from powerful angels being in charge of a continuous battle that rages all around us to the idea that God isn't in power at all, and because of his lack of participation in our lives as we live out this physical existence that he may not even be there. God wants for us to understand both his great desire to love us and the great care that he is given to develop this plan of salvation for our redemption. Jesus himself had a special role to play in the plan of salvation, and in God's new covenant that has been offered to us as his creation. This new covenant is a new commitment that God has seen fit to offer us through the person of Jesus Christ his only begotten son, but it comes only through our acceptance of Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of God.
3. God also wants a truthful relationship with us, and that does not always mean necessarily a polite relationship. In order for us to have a God level honest relationship with someone we must be truthful about how we feel and what we think. We don't always have to be right, but we do always have to be truthful with God. I really don't think God cares for political correctness because it's so often tries to cover or hide the truth, and it is deceitful in its nature. Only when we can be so open to God as to share our anger and frustrations with him will we find out what his true nature is toward us. I also believe that God wants to have honest conversation with this in the form of prayer, but I also do not believe that most of us know what it is like to have an honest conversation with God. I believe that we should be able to pray through simply talking with God, asking him questions, and then taking the time to meditate and listen for him to speak to us. I believe that God will do that in many different ways a part from simply speaking to our heart and mind, he will give answer through his word the and through various different forms as we walk through our day. God has spoken to me in ways that I completely did not expect to hear from him. When my heart is open to hearing from God and answer can come to me through music, art, something that I hear on the radio or television, or even a sign or a circumstance that I come across in my day. The important thing for me to remember is to always be listening for his voice.
4. I know that God wants the same kind of unity and love between us as his children that the father enjoys with both the Holy Spirit and with Jesus. That is something that is not just an overnight achievement, but it is something that we must continuously work on. God wants the kind of loyalty and love that can only be provided by our own commitment and self-will used in seeking to become a family in the kingdom of heaven. This is something that we have to continue to work and build upon in this life. It is not something that this world will ever give to us. It is not something that we can ever earn, but it is a gift that we give to one another through Christ Jesus. I am going to continue in the next blog with some of the differences that we see between what we want is people from worship and what we know that God wants from us as a church. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
