Starting with the church
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
It is important for us to be straightforward and truthful about what we see within today's church. I recognize that there is only so much that we can do as individuals in a sea of turmoil like we find in today's world. One of the things about men and women that are consistent is that we will always go in the direction that is the easiest and that has the most shortcuts possible. In dealing with the church we cannot allow ourselves to be swayed by public opinion, and that has been one of the major mistakes that has been made by the church in this world. We have trying to make ourselves feel better by including the world around us in our efforts to minister. What we are finding is that the easy way is not the lasting way, so we will be striving against the tide and against the opposition we face to sometimes stand alone in telling the truth when a lie is popular.
As we begin to get into the subject of today's church we need to establish that there are several ways of looking at what we have been doing. What we have mentioned so far deals with a current church mentality that tries to include all of the world around the church; not leaving anyone out the loop which is basically a seeker sensitive mentality. I myself when I was younger asked myself "why can't we use the tools of this world to draw people to God?" What I ultimately found was that I was opening the door for the world to invade my spiritual space and time with God. I found that the more I tried to be inclusive the less effective I became in witnessing for Christ. The reason was because I had allowed myself to become a part of the operation of the world rather than to be an example of Christ to the world.
This is one of the areas of today's church that we need to understand exists in the view of the community around us. And as the church there isn't any gift given that his special to those who witness the truth about God in their life other than having a personal knowledge that they do well with God in their own heart, and they are living to see the truth told in this world above the lie. From the very beginning in the established church of Christ there have been those who dare to continue to stand in the face of God's enemy and proclaim that truth, but there is no immediate gratification for the because God does not deal in instant, he deals in eternity. God's kingdom has very little to do with this world for it is not born in this world, it is spirit. I spoke earlier about there being different views of the church. There is man's view of the church, which tries to take in all of these seeker sensitive issues that muddy the waters for truth to be seen, and then there is God's view of the church. In God's view of who we are as a church with each step we take to see the truth is told, we create yet another building block of trust and completeness between ourselves and God. This development is slow and the materials that are sought after and you just are the very best that we have to be used in the completion of our permanent home and have been with him, the dwelling's that will last forever more. What we strive for is not built overnight or with just one gesture of faith, but it is put together over time with trust and love that we share with God and he with us. Some today who would preach instant salvation and membership and the family of God are forgetting that both we and God have a need for trust in one another as well is love. We made love small baby but only time will help us build trust in the love that the child shows forth in return for all we have given him. Today we begin to ask the question," does God have reason to trust you beyond what you have said to him?" What we are going to be speaking about deals directly with our relationship with God, how it is developed, and what God is looking for from us in that relationship. We will begin to discuss what it is to develop a sense of seeking after him with our whole heart instead of giving simple lip service to God. We will begin to speak to you about what it takes to become a part of the bride of Christ instead of simply being a follower of Jesus. May you ritually bless God through your life in him.
