WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM GOD ?
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
Down through the years as I have walked with Christ I've asked myself what it was that I personally wanted to get out of my relationship with God? He has always come back through his spirit with partial answers that usually dug into my spirit in ways that I couldn't explain. I think it is important however, that we allow God's Spirit to explore things that are on the inside of us.
"What is it that we want in Christ? We say that we want God's will to take control of us but then we will not give God control to do his work through us. I believe that God has set a different course for each one of us, it is a personal course. Our problem is that we have just refused to make God our Lord and God in life. We are his two command in what ever way he chooses, yet we will still act as though it is we who do the choosing and the work apart from God. Don't we know that in doing things this way we obstruct God's spirit within our lives and we forfeit the chance to glorify the father?
It is through the bending of our will to God the father that he in turn can glorify his work through us, and that is the ultimate compliment in our lives from the Holy Spirit. Jesus himself made the statement that he could do nothing by himself without the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We can do nothing of ourselves to glorify the father, and we are set on a course of failure from the start we try. We are like a magnifier to people about God is just like the sun itself is magnified through a glass when it is held at just the right angle to start a fire. We become class held the right angle to magnify God's spirit to start fires in the hearts of men through the power of his spirit. We live and we die in this world in a very unique way as followers of Christ. We say for us to live is Christ and for us to die is gain and yet the process is all too often too much for us to bear. It's only too much to bear if we are still trying to save our own lives. Our lives are lived in both the physical world around us and in the spiritual world inside of us. The physical world causes us much pain and torment in our flesh. We are bombarded with sometimes uncontrollable desires to sin against our father, and yet no matter how hard we may pray there is no lasting relief from the condition that we are in as long as we live here.
At the same time we are under the desire to find out more about who we are in Christ Jesus, and we can see the truth there. This battle for supremacy will continue in our lives until we die to one and clean the holy to the other for we cannot serve two masters. This is a life and death struggle, which will not end until a decision is made from within our hearts. For the spirit to grow and continue in our lives we must die to the influence of this world and place our citizenship completely in the hands of the father."
God has had to remind me many times about this constant conflict within me about who I am putting first in my life; my own desires, or God as my Lord and Savior? God's spirit has continued to give me bits and pieces of wisdom throughout the years on this subject.
"The values that we as children of God hold are many times not the value that God the father holds within us. Because of that we have internal conflict and struggle with our spirituality. We are made to love and serve our father, but we are also made to be here for this time frame. We were actually placed on earth created to be a magical garden for us, but a different place from where God is dwelling; a place where he could come to commune with his children. It was created to be a safe place for us to grow and learn in. It was created to be a place where God could find some real answers to his questions about self will. It was created to be a place of honor to God and to be at testing ground for man the kinds worthiness and desire to be a part of the fathers kingdom.
The act of love out of free choice is the most powerful of all loves. It is that kind of love that responds to crisis, and runs to comfort more quickly than any other kind of love. Even close friends may not respond, as would family members love in times of real need for they do not know what to say or how to act when disasters happen. The truest kind of is that of instant action on the part of the one loving. The soldier who has only those around him in war time whom he can depend on in life and death situations will often show acts of this kind of unselfish love for another by throwing himself on a hand grenade or putting himself in the path of an oncoming fire fight to save another's life. We don't seem to understand that God wants that kind of response from us as his children for their father. We make decisions each and every day that determine the outcome of that day. We readily make decisions, which we know will show who it is we belong to. We cannot play the field to find the best one to worship at the time of our own convenience; we must make a decision and not turned back. For those of us lucky and to have had people in our lives whom we would have given our lives for in this very way it becomes easier to see the need for God's children to be trusted in this way. We are indeed in a great war even now and the souls which are at stake are our own and those whom we hold the dearest to us in this life. We have pleaded ignorance for the best part of our lives and now we have been told. Where does your treasure lie? It is said that your treasure is where your heart is. We are a people of great wealth and treasure physically, but we are also a people of great wealth spiritually if we will allow it to be so but there is a price. How much do you love the father? As much as he has loved you?"
These and many other questions need to be not only asked of the church today, but they need to be answered by us as individual Christians as well. May you richly bless God through your life in him.
