  GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS:


    We started out with 3 areas of interest in this study: PRAYER, STUDY OF GOD'S WORD, AND APPLYING WHAT WE LEARN TO OUR LIVES.  As we continue with our thoughts we had said that the importance of God's word abiding within us is critical to being able to ask for what we wanted in our hearts and it is granted to us.  As we build our relationship with God we can only go so far without understanding God's true desire for us.  God is not like a local ATM machine where we go to withdraw from our account without having any kind of personal contact with the source of our wealth.  Many people have an attitude of treating God like we would a grocery list that we pick from when we buy something at the store.  God does not operate that way any more than we do with our own children.  When our children are small they may go to whatever they want and pick out something to throw into the cart, but we may or may not let them have it because we know what they need and what they don't need at the time.  It is much easier if they come to us first and ask than it is for us to have to confront them at the checkout when we are ready to go.  Many Christians still have that small child attitude when it comes to God.  God's word plays a huge role in developing who we grow up to be in Christ.  Hebrews 4:12 " For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joint and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart"  I want for you to take the time to pick out some words from this scripture verse to think about with me for a moment
ACTIVE.  God's word is actively working within us at all times of our lives to change the old person that we were that has always been full of self-centeredness, sin and the desire to have control, and show them a new way; a more perfect way as it tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:1-13.  You see it was God's tremendous love for us in the first place that caused Him to give His only Son as a living sacrifice for us even when we were still sinners and hating the light that God's word was giving us.

 That word is active within us and slowly changing our character into a person who can fit into a perfect Heaven.CONVICTING It is sharper than any two-edged sword and is meant to pierce the deepest areas of who we are created to be.  ALIVE.  God's word is not a commodity, but it is a living part of God that abides within our hearts, and the more we allow ourselves to be exposed to that word the more it will continue to work on changing us into a mature son or daughter in Christ.POWERFUL.  When it comes to the power that God's word has in changing someone's life we hear testimonies of it all of the time DISCERNING God knows you better than you know yourself because He created you to love and have a relationship with.PIERCING   There is no doubt that for each one of us there is the need to have parts removed that have been corrupted by this world, and there is no greater way to do that than to allow God's word to do surgery on us.  While it is the job of the law to convict it is the purpose of the message that Christ brought to us from the Father to heal us.  We cannot be healed if we never allow God to open us up.  We cannot go through that without some pain.

  When we allow God the control over us to open us up to His word of truth we can be cleansed through our repentant heart.  I have one last blog I want to dedicate to this subject so I pray that you will stay with me.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
