COMMUNICATION WITH GOD 1. For God so loved series.

GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS:

There are many times when I pray, Lord, what would you have me say today that I feel almost a blank expression back from God.  In those times I already know that I need to go back again to the basics in my mind and start to go over the message I have delivered for over the last 30 years with the teachings that the Holy Spirit has given to me.

Many years ago I taught a series called "For God so loved the world".  In that series of studies was a part of our communication with God that I want to share with you.  I want to start by asking a question.  Where does your communication with God start?  Many people will say it starts with your acceptance of Christ, and that is so very true, but it is not where things begin and end. Unfortunately, there are many who stay at the same place they started which is in accepting Christ but they never seem to go any further or get any deeper than that small child running to God and crying save me!

Let me say here that we were created to be loved by a God who craves love by His own nature and in order to actually communicate with God on any real level we have to get to the point that we can look upon Him with great faith, trust, and love for what He has done for us.  That means we must go further within Christ to begin to have a relationship with the Father.  There are 3 areas that we need to build in our relationship with God: 1. PRAYER  2. STUDY OF GOD'S WORD  3.APPLYING WHAT WE LEARN TO OUR LIVES
With those things in mind, we need to ask ourselves what does prayer mean to a healthy relationship with God?  In John 15:7 " If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask what you wish and it shall be given to you"

These words although they are very comforting to have a much greater meaning than we may realize for us because it requires us to be transformed by the words of Jesus. Not only do we need to abide and trust in Jesus this verse tells us that His words and commandments need to abide in our hearts before we can ask for whatever we want.  If God is in control of our mind and heart we can always ask for our heart's desire and know we are in His will because we are given to Him completely.  In our prayer, that means that we want in our hearts what God wants for us.  God's word within us will change us; in other words, we will be transformed by the renewing of our minds to begin to think and feel about life in the same ways God thinks and feels.  What this tells me is that there is so much more than just coming toChrist for salvation that we need to be seeking in our Christian experience.  I heard it said by the Lord Himself " Worry about nothing, and pray about everything". The idea of beginning to talk to God often and about each of the things we face in our day is a good start, but that is not all there is to seek after God.  Keep these 3 areas that I listed today in your mind because we are going to look at them more closely as we go on. For now, may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
