COMMUNICATION WITH GOD 3 seeking Him out

GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS:

The very best source of understanding about the power of both prayer and the word of God is Jesus's own teachings about it. There are a vast majority of Christians who do not know who they were created to be in God's Kingdom. It is unfortunate that many will go through this life without ever knowing the answers that God's Spirit is just waiting to give to them because of their own failure to communicate with Him.

Jesus offers some important points on prayer and seeking God that I want to bring finally into this conversation. Matthew 5:23-24 Jesus tells us to prepare our hearts for prayer much like you would in making an offering to God.  That should cause us to realize that we should never come before God without reverence.  As we grow in Christ our ability to come before Him in love will grow easier because we will be able to know and feel His power within us at all times. When we do pray the manner and subject of our prayer should be centered around our relationship with Him and not always asking for things.  We can see some of the changes that Jesus mentions for our prayers to stay in the center of God's will like that of
Matthew 9:37-38 when Jesus asked us to pray for workers for the harvest. He gave us an example of the kind of prayer that stays in God's will when He showed us the Lord's Prayer Matthew 6:9-13, and then He told us to never give up in our prayers Matthew 7:7-11 "Ask, seek, and knock"  There are other places that the Apostles have given us advice like  praying in the Spirit for the Saints in
Ephesians 6:18  or praying without doubting in James 1:6-7  but everything that the word tells us about prayer shows us that it starts being effective when we pray in God's will 1 John 5:14.

There is much that we do not know about the presence of God in our lives...these are things that remain unknowable to us as long as we stay at an arm's length from God in life. He has promised to open our eyes and our hearts to many of these mysteries. Like in James 1:5 we find that prayer is necessary to obtain wisdom. In Colossians 4:12 we find that prayer helps us to discover what the perfect will of God really is for our lives, and in Philippians 4:6 it tells us that it is to combat; and to give supplication and thanksgiving. James 5:14 says it is to see the fellowship of believers through difficult times. There are many things that we can benefit from through our time of communication with God but I think one of the greatest is found in Matthew 9:37-38 where Jesus tells us that it is so we can see the real work of the Holy Spirit gets done in us.
In my mind, there is no wonder why prayer was so very important to Jesus; and why it should be equally as important to us as His Children.  I have heard it said that one sermon a week is not a sufficient spiritual diet to keep us healthy.  We need one another as well. Until we can seek after God on our own we need to get with some others to pray and seek Him together as a family in Christ because that is what the church is created for.  I hope this study helps you somewhat in seeking a better relationship with Christ through the power of His Spirit within you.  May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
