A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOURSELF
GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS:
For many people, it becomes a real problem to start our looking at ourselves because we don't have anyone else to compare to us! That is one of the reasons for us to look at self first. It is so much easier for us to give ourselves excuses if we can divert the attention away from self or point a finger at someone else.
The whole purpose for dealing with self first is that we need to be able to be completely honest with ourselves about who it is we are right now. That will take some to discover who you really are at both your best and at your worst in life. I can tell you when I went through this process I did not like what I saw very much. You cannot allow yourself to become distracted by the world around you. That may mean that you may need to curtail many of the activities around you until you get a hold on this thing. What we have here is a golden opportunity find out right now if you are off track from who you want to be and what it will take to correct it. It is important that we look as clearly as we can at what is on the inside before we make a judgment whether we like what we see or not. One thing for sure if we do see things we must correct we cannot ignore it and think it will just go away...it will not.

If we see things in us that bother us we can be sure that they will also bother other people. Sometimes these areas can even become amplified by someone else's personality, and that can even make our problems worse than they are now. Let's face it no one is perfect, and there will be areas that we might not be able to overcome even if we don't like what we see there. The most important thing is to know they exist at all and that will be important when the times come up when we are forced to react to someone else's point of view.
One of the greatest problems we have as mankind is understanding and communicating with one another on everyday issues. This is the core of human relationships. Understanding how you feel about how you feel and think about different issues is the first step to understanding how someone else feels and thinks as well. Our relationship with God helps us understand better who we are because He can help us to unlock those gates and doors to our spirit that may well have been locked away from us, and because they have been locked away from us they are also locked away from sharing with anyone else too. God shows us the truth about ourselves much like the law shows us our sin, but once we see it God also gives us the love, grace, and mercy to find a way to forgive self and look at them the ways He does. God will always be faithful to tell us the truth about what is there even though we may wish to continue to lie to ourselves about it. For some people, this becomes such a difficult and big issue for them they may need to talk to a Christian counselor about it.
Looking at ourselves first is very important, so don't try to skip past yourself in this process and think it will work out for you. It becomes those things that we tend to try to hide the most from God that eats away at us the most. Each part of what the Spirit of God is saying to you right now is not just deep, but it is important for your relationship with God to continue to grow. I will finish these thoughts upon a relationship with yourself in the next blog...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
