THE SECOND STEP IN FINDING GOD'S POWER
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
There is no doubt that what we speak of with looking for God's power to be seen and felt in our lives is to be found first of all in His will...not ours. Once we establish that all important relationship with God from that point it becomes a matter of developing a deeper trust and faith with God.
In order to do that we must establish a good solid form of communication with God in which we can understand clearly what is being said by both us and God,but in all truth most of us are not very good at communicating with someone else past telling someone what we want. When it comes to speaking with God the communication gets even worse because we tend to not be very truthful about what is hidden away within our heart. I would dare say that most of us do not really admit ( even to ourselves) the truth about what we really think or desire when it comes to our dealings with God. In order for me to qualify that last statement I think I should also say that most of us do not have an intent to be untruthful about the intent of our heart; but I do think that most of us have been so preconditioned to the lies of this world in dealing with others that we no longer know what to do with a straight forward and gut level honesty in our communication with a God who will not lie to us..
What I refer to here is our prayer life, and what ends up being our greatest communication with God. To be frank the enemy spends most of his time trying to screw up that communication between us and our savior because of the power inherit in us understanding God and our being truthful with Him in our heart. Unless we can be painfully honest with God about what is inside of us the enemy knows that there cannot be a great amount of progress made in the transformation process needed to bring about any kind of real power from God's Spirit in what we do.
Prayer becomes an art form learned...and what I mean by that has nothing to do with a great public ability to pray or even having the right words to use in a group or open setting with others, but rather in being honest, and understanding that the first step of love and commitment should lead our desire in what we want the most from God, and what we need the most in our prayer life. Among the first and most powerful tools we have is our time of prayer because it is not only our communication to God, but also His way of speaking in turn with us. It is this which produces unity between us and our source of real power which is God. Within this kind of prayer are several other areas that need to be considered too...things like meditation are included in a good prayer life...a suject I want to pick up with in the next blog...may you richly bless God through your life in Him.
