MY SOUL FINDS REST IN GOD ALONE
Greetings in Jesus:
Psalm 62 expresses much of the way I feel about my relationship with both God and then the world around me as well. " my soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken" Then David turns to this world and asks " How long will you assault a man? Would all of you throw him down...this leaning wall, this tottering fence?"
I very often feel this way about life all around me as I try to live for Christ. It feels very much that the more I try to concentrate on my spiritual life the more this world throws rocks at me. I think in a big way we all expect that to happen in the back of our mind; yet when we start to feel the hate rain down on us for no other reason than that we love God we feel as though some how we have betrayed by this world; the very world that we started out to be a part of. It takes some time for us to understand that we have also made a statement to this world that we agree with what God has said about it...and that we will stand with God in our personal judgment and view of what sin is. When we do that we have made a statement that tells this world we want to be separated from it...that we are no longer going to be loyal to it, and than by accepting God's plan we intend to leave our connection to this world behind. In other words we have just started a fight!
We have indeed set ourselves up for some payback in the eyes of God's enemy, and it isn't out of order for those of us who are found in the company of that enemy to be tortured or held captive for how ever long we stay behind enemy lines. It is in part for that reason that we should take up arms together, and watch one another's back. I am finding that the time for selfish behavior is gone, and the time for combining efforts to strengthen our stand and our resolve in Christ is most needed. I have had this blog now for almost 20 years, and although I have tried to do many different things with it I have yet to really step out of a comfort zone with what I do.
Many of you have heard me say that I am not in this battle to be a survivor, but rather a warrior who dares to give his life for the cause of Christ. I want for this ministry to spark a fire within the hearts of Christians who may have long wanted to be a part of a work that is bigger than they are; which has a goal to it that calls for real change in their world.
We need to start to feel once again as though we can make a difference by allowing God's Spirit to flow through us personally...and we can do that if we combine our efforts and our talents as the Church that Jesus established us to be. Today more than at any time in history we have the chance to unite in Christ as a force for Christ without ever leaving the church homes we have. We have the chance to combine abilities and talents in mind boggling ways. My personal mission is to wake up the Bride of Christ from the slumber she has been in for generations. My desire is to find a way where you can become a part of that awakening, and together in our calling to serve Christ we can be a part of the same work no matter where we are. We can become a very important part of God's fighting force like a Guerrilla fighting force that can strike from multiple directions and ways all at the same time. That is why I need your prayers to help me to set this new work into motion for 2016. I want for you each to feel as though this work is a part of your ministry as well. This work will be God simple; not church complicated, and as it develops it is my prayer that God will call your heart to begin to share, and grow in Him. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
