BALANCE

Greetings in the name of Jesus:

Lord, it is my prayer that you can use the words of this blog to reach and help those whom you have intended to receive it in their hearts...Amen

BALANCEWhat a subject that we need to tackle head-on today!  As it relates to the study of God's word can it be too much? In other words, can we get so heavy into a study that we are consumed by it?  I think that is a fair question, and in our lives, we can get caught in several traps that are easily set by the enemy to take us off course and in a direction where we get confused.
When I think about this with regard to the study of God's word I think about the many people who get caught up in different areas like that of prophecy or some of the spiritual gifts of healings and deliverance.  These are areas that have long been used to draw the minds of people who wanted a more and deeper study to become closer to Christ to instead be drawn further from the basic message that God had intended for us to actually study.

It isn't because our heart is not right, or anything else that we have done. It is the deceitfulness of men and the powers and principalities in heavenly places that we war against to stay on-track as much as we can.  I am not saying that we should not study these areas that excite us and stir our hearts, but we need to be very careful about the balance of what we learn from these studies being then compared to the original message from Jesus.  In a study that I am going through presently in 1 Corinthians with my men's group, I am finding so many areas where people have gotten off balance in their thinking about what is important for their daily walk in Christ, or they are burdened with worries about things that come up that have nothing to do with their salvation and yet they are consumed by the worry of certain things; much that they cannot do anything about.

We can allow ourselves to get so off-balance in the study of the word that we also lose all track of the life we are called to live all around us. That BALANCE deals with the life we live with and around others on a day-to-day basis.  We cannot neglect that life either which includes our social life and the many enjoyments we have in this life.  That is a part of my personal balance problems. For me, I can easily be in my office in study or writing for many hours in a day and never leave my work even to eat a meal. I have to make myself get up from my desk because my calling from God is to do what I am now doing.  I may not be successful or well known in the eyes of this world, but I will continue to speak the truth that mirrors the message that the Father has given to Jesus to share with us.  As I look at people like Paul who was completely overtaken by the power of God's Spirit I find in many ways I am always being drawn into that kind of focus and concentration in Christ.  That is; in the eyes of this world a radical point of view and yet we also need those who are drawn that way to maintain a balance in this world to the millions who are being drawn away from the original message that God has given us.  When I think of real BALANCE I think of keeping the message in our hearts so simple that the little child within us can always understand it and then live it.  Jesus warned us time and time again not to be deceived by this world. I pray that you will hold that in your heart today. May you richly bless God through your life in Him.
