Dealing with foundations
Greetings in the name of Jesus:
There are many things which need to be said to the church in this age and very few who are willing to stand in the assembly of Christ followers to save them. Some of you who will hear these words with spiritual years have been deep hunger in your soul to know God more every day. Some of you are brand new Christians who were on fire in your heart right now for God. There are many will hear this for the first time you have cleaned Christ in their lives for many years and who have fallen into a very comfortable routine with both church and a daily walk with God. This blog is for you... I want to use it as a kind of wake-up call in love letter form for those of you who would be a part of the bride of Christ.
I don't know what you have been told in the church that you attend, but it isn't easy to be a true follower of Christ. In today's instance society were waiting on anything has become politically incorrect the idea of simply saying out loud that we believe in God is enough to guarantee a place in God's kingdom is the most popular of teachings. The problem with our society is that the real absolute truth behind things like leaving and acting on that belief is not understood. True belief has much more to it, and it takes more than the flick of a switch somewhere inside of us to make it real. Many people have begun to hang on to a"thief on the cross"attitude, but we must realize that even then thief on the cross next Jesus died to this world before he died in this world. As we talk about today's church what am I saying here? Christ established the church for a reason. Not as an organization, not as a club of people who liked the idea of being governed by certain doctrines, but Christ established the church to be a family.
Of all of the things that the church could be Christ chose to create a loving family simply to support those souls who made the decision to trade this world holds temporary love, treasures, and pleasures for God's promises of eternal perfection in love, treasures, and pleasures. God knew that each of us would need support to live it out, a place for comfort, safety, and nurturing. What a better place to do that than with your family right? There is a problem with this family concept that God had intended for the church, but just like with everything that God does there is also a reason for not only the problem but God is also given us a solution for it if we are grown up enough in his spirit to understand it. Because most of us have missed the idea of what God had intended when he established the church; that idea that he wanted for the brand new child of God to have a safe place to grow up, a place that we could share our commitment to Christ with; a place where we could be inspired by others Christ. God wanted us to grow by being taught not only his word, but by seeing it lived out for us by older Christians, and a place where we could learn how to share her witness with the world. There is at least a month worth of studies packed in to that one thought. All of this we have been given for one another as the church, but like the Corinthians we are too weak spiritually to understand it or to do it. If that is true, and you already know it is, what can we do about it?
One of the first things we must do is come back to the foundations of our faith, and by that I don't mean the doctrines of our forefathers. Those doctrines that have been written and made by men do nothing more than divide us from any fellowship with one another. I believe that those doctrines have been used as a prime tool by the enemy to keep generations of God's people apart. Many of you have heard me say time and again that we must come back to the teachings of Christ will and begin to rebuild upon that firm foundation which has already been laid down for us. It is frightening to think that the majority of Christ's followers do not even know what these foundational teachings of Christ are, because they have never taken the time to grow to seek out the truth about these teachings. I would like to try to make these foundational teachings more clear to all. Stick with me as we keep pounding away and seeking God together. May you reach the less God through your life in him.
